So here it is, the good character award given to Madison this morning for showing the trait of compassion. Children were selected from each classroom, and this morning they went to the lunchroom to receive their awards - along with a gift card for a free meal at Longhorn Steakhouse. Madison was pretty happy to get her award:
And Mommy and Daddy were happy to be there too! The parents of all these children were invited to the school this morning, all of us seated at the lunch tables to watch the official presentation of the awards. Madison was happy to see Mommy and Daddy, who were excited to make the trip in and see her. Here's one more photo of the occasion, a group shot of all the kids.
You can see the principal of the school to the left, and of course, Madison over to the right. This was a neat opportunity to honor the children, and reward them for good behavior traits. Now all we have to do is make another date to go to Longhorn, and we're set!
The day was a full one, with ballet and music classes dominating the schedule. Madison did well with piano, getting better with rhythm. It's been one of the last hurdles to fall, and it's good to see her get the timing better on some percussion instruments. She knows the order of the notes, but sometimes the concept of rhythm isn't quite all there. Today, she was hitting the triangle in time well, and we were quite pleased!
When we got home, it was time to finish up work on the leprechaun trap! We did in fact finish it - pictures will be in the next post, as tomorrow we're bringing it in to school. Afterwards, we played some more lego-related games on the X-box. This was somewhat of a reward for such a good day at practice - she was very focused and such a good student. And, of course, it was a reward for a great morning - it was nice to see her on stage with a nice award.
