Compassion

Madison brought this home and we were pretty proud.  She was sort of indifferent though - like, "yeah, that's just one of those things we need to bring home."  But when Mommy and Daddy get a letter that says our daughter demonstrates February's character trait of "compassion," well let's just say we were pretty tickled.  It's a simple thing to do if you want to get parents all proud.  Of course, Madison makes us proud all the time, and of course, as the invitation says above, one or both of us will be there at the school for this major award.  And a check.  What?  No check?

Anyway, "Grinch" references" aside, today was a good day - although another cold and blustery one.  Spring is supposedly two weeks away, but the way things are going, perhaps someone should go and tap Spring on the shoulder and remind it that it's supposed to be getting closer.  Currently it's bitterly cold outside.  In fact, there was snow on the ground this morning, the biggest snowstorm of the year for Gainesville so far this winter.  Yep, we got at least one millimeter.  Maybe even a millimeter and a half!

It was enough for Madison to notice.  We also noticed while dropping Madison off at school an neat thing:  behind the school, off in the distant pasture, about seven deer frolicking.  Deer are the only ones that can really frolic, aren't they?

Mommy had a great dinner for us tonight - or at least for Daddy.  We've been eating salmon from time to time, and she had this delicious lemon pepper salmon on the plate when we got home.

The other great news is that we got a power cable for the Xbox, which means we are finally reunited with our beloved video games.  Even better, we transferred all the saved stuff on the old one to this new version, which has much better memory too - about 200 GB.  It's amazing how God provides, even for little things like that.

Tonight we had a good service, one about the zebra.  We got a great compliment from a guy who grew up camping in the shade of Kilimanjaro, fending off elephants who could smell fresh food from miles away if their camp accidentally left it out.  This gentleman was homesick for Africa, and simply loved the service we had Sunday.  We took it as a very high compliment!
