Everyone was a little - okay, a lot - slower to get up this morning, but we all look back with fondness about the week of Summer Xtreme 2012. This was the smoothest, most fun one of all. Still, we lost a ton of sleep, at least those of us working on it did. I spent at least five all-nighters in the last eight days, but I didn't set the record in that category. Josh should win something for that.
Still, there is for the first time a bittersweet feeling about the week itself. Having everything go so well, and having time to be with the kids (especially Madison), we've were really blessed with some incredible services and moments with God. The excursions were great too, and the weather ideal for each outdoor event. Not too hot, and in one case not too rainy despite the looming threat of downpours.
Today was a work day - the show must go on: tomorrow we have yet another Castaway service, and KidPak keeps moving forward. About a year from now, Madison will be a part of our these services, which is hard to believe! She'll be with the older kids for Summer Xtreme next year. Whoa!
Today she spent resting with Mommy and Daddy - that is, until Daddy went off to work. He did get home in time to tuck her in for night time. She looked outside and commented that she was going to be early. No, Madison, not tonight. You're going to bed on time for a change!
Still, there was time for a made-up story with Indiana Jones. Agreed, it was a little quieter one, but it was still a lot of fun with Short Round behind held hostage by bad guys in an ice cream factory. That's what bad guys do!
