Bonk!

First thing this morning there was a "bonk!"  It was on the window, and we knew right away a bird had hit one of the house windows with enough force to knock the wind out of it.  Mom went outside right away to see if she could help, and I was looking up info online to see the proper way to assist a bird in this sort of condition.

It was a woodpecker, and a really beautiful bird too.  Mom and I were glad we could help, and you could see this poor bird was initially out cold, and so we held it upright and watched as it slowly came to its senses.

Moments after this picture was taken, the bird flew off into the woods, landing on a tree in our back yard, and rethinking its life after a near-death experience!

We had a decent day today.  Mom and Nana stayed at home, getting some things done this morning and afternoon.  There was a lot of cooking, but also a lot of little things to be done, like removing the ornaments off of the pine branches we cut off our tree at the botanical gardens.

Maddie and I were at the office, although we didn't film again today due to meetings and just a lot going on at the office.  She sat and read a book - actually finishing it - while we were setting up for Sunday's service and doing a few other things, like planning for youth or trying to figure out what we're doing for "Get a Clue."

We got home earlier, and right away we were off and running to the chiropractor.  They were running late there, so it was a funny situation when Maddie's small group started, and she was actually on her phone listening in as Camille was leading the small group.  We all got our adjustments, and then we were off to Goodwill to look for costuming for Get a Clue.  We didn't see much, but we did find some Christmas items, like a Liberace Christmas record on vinyl, and some ceramic mugs that Mom has been collecting lately.

Dinner was good - Mom and I shared the split pea soup that Mom was making today.  Nana went to bed really early today, not feeling well.  The rest of us watched the excellent next chapter of Boba Fett, one that dives into the lifestyle of the Tusken Raider.  It was such a full episode, with Twin Hutts, an Ithorian mayor, Pike gangsters, and of course those Tusken Raiders.  It was incredible.  Because I've loved Tusken Raiders ever since 1976.

We read tonight, and we prayed together, and we got to sleep.  Maddie doesn't have to wake up early for school tomorrow, because it's online.  School has postponed meeting on campus for a few days as the Board of Education leaders discuss the current spike in numbers of people who have the latest variation of this virus.  It's new, and many reports suggest that while it's not as lethal, it's also much more contagious.  There were so many opportunities for this to spread over the Christmas break, with so many large scale events and visiting families.  But from what I'm reading, this version is largely more like a serious cold.  I had something much more serious last year and Mom definitely had something different too, and it's entirely possible that the antibodies now in our household have helped us.  Maddie has shown no symptoms whatsoever thus far, but by now she's certainly been exposed to something.  Regardless, we've been protected, and we're certainly grateful.
