Today Mom received a gift from a co-worker that she didn't know existed. I had a friend pick up from a gift shop a bottle of Monkees soda - banana nut flavor!
I had heard about this late last year, and was hoping to get a bottle of it, so this was a pretty nice gift. Our friend Joe was down in St. Petersburg at a candy shop, and it was there that he saw all kinds of different flavors, including this one here. Can't wait to try it, and maybe get another one!
We had a decent day today, one where we had to adjust our plans for the upcoming weekend quite a bit due to recent troubles with the stage changeout. "Get a Clue" will wait another weekend, but this weekend will be good, as we've developed a special message related to our yearly church fast, something that really embraces the church vision, theme, and that central scripture of Matthew 6:33. We're getting ready for the fasting season, which includes some grocery shopping that Mom has been doing, picking up plenty of vegetables and items for soups. No Monkees soda though.
Maddie and I got in a few rounds of a board game today, choosing LIFE, the "Pirates" version. We had some pirating/cooking show on (yeah, that's a thing), all while we were moving forward through the high seas. Maddie was a much-superior pirate on this run, getting to treasure island well after my journey, but that might be because her ship was so laden with treasures picked up along the way. As for the programming on the television, it was this show where ambitious bakers making dessert items themed to different Disney properties. Tonight's episode was a pirate-themed one, which just seemed to go well for the hour or so we were playing.
In the living room, the amaryllis flower is really starting to bloom. We'll have a picture of that in a bit when one of the other blooms opens up. But Mom was quick to note that it is technically Christmas time still, as in some countries they celebrate a good bit into January. Which is alright by us!
Tonight we watched "Enola Holmes" again, starting off the "Get a Clue" theme, looking for ideas, but just sort of diving into the overall theme. We all like this movie, and will probably be watching quite a few more of this theme before all's said and done. Although it's the season for Chinese New Year, and we're anxious to watch a few of those other themed movies too. Anyway, we had the fire roaring in the fireplace tonight, just because it was so cold outside. It's supposed to get really cold tonight, so I brought in the hoses. The Christmas decorations are still coming down slowly, but we're getting around to it!
We read tonight, really moving quickly through this latest Kingdom Keepers book. We said our prayers afterwards, and got to bed where we were doing some more reading afterwards from our own books. It's been nice reading in bed until the eyes get heavy. Good night!
