Karate Pants

Obviously it was a quieter day than the last four.  We were back into a small routine, although even that will be broken up shortly with the arrival of the new school season.  That's coming soon.  But what was great today was seeing the new taekwondo season start, and such a full studio.  We arrived there before class, and the class previous was pretty full, and Madison's class was much more populated as well - you're only seeing one row of the students here.  There's another row in front of them, all of the students using their nunchucks.

We were joking about the pants we picked up tonight.  With all the classes this season - four per week - we thought it would be best to have an extra pair of pants for her classes.  So we picked up this pair here from the studio, and lo, we read that these are in fact KARATE PANTS.   No, they're not taekwondo pants.  They're not even kung fu pants.  They're KARATE pants.  Have we been living a lie all this time?

Mommy and I went over the Cricket Fields to vote today.  That's our official voting location.  Cricket Fields.  First, the vote:  it was a run-off between two candidates for the Ninth District.  Masks on, we dropped by, and of course there weren't too many people there for this vote.  Which is always a shame, as every vote counts.  The guy we voted for this time and last did not win, ultimately, but that's democracy for you.  Really either one would be fine.  We'll be voting for the one who won this primary run off in November, probably.

As for the Cricket Fields, we didn't even know there was a place where we can play a game of Cricket that is less than six minutes from our house.  Assuming we could ever even figure out the rules, that might actually be something fun to go see, or even do!  Incidentally, we also have polo fields nearby, which makes us sound quite extravagant, don't you think?  I suppose we'll be having high tea soon enough, as long as there are crumpets.

It was an ordinary day in many respects.  I was writing, writing, and writing today, getting the booklets done for our new "Under the Sea" series.  Madison did some piano, and she also has been preparing and packing for the new school year.  She's already got her first day of school clothing figured out.

We did our reading and we said our prayers tonight, and there's the realization that tomorrow is the last day of summer break.  Here we go again with school on Thursday, and suddenly we have a real eighth grader in the house with us.  Yikes.

But it was a good day.  Mommy made British soldiers for breakfast, and that's always amazing.  We're feasting on this watermelon we got from Jaemor - we dropped by on the way home from Pigeon Forge.  We got a few other fruits and vegetables too, including corn, which has been just divine.  We're doing well here, and we're praying for Ba-Ba, who did not have his testing yet due to low platelet numbers.  Now we're hoping to get those up with a diet that has that purpose.  We spoke with the grandparents today, and other than that pesky cough, you wouldn't know what's going on from their countenance.

I've got a pesky cough too.  It will not go away.  We prayed tonight for it to do exactly that, and more importantly, for Ba-Ba to recover fully.  And then it was time to tuck Madison in, this after reading more from Mara Jade's adventures.  I don't know why I bother going through the extent of tucking her in as elaborately as I do, as she only hops up afterwards and starts hurling different plush animals at me.  She's got quite the arsenal.  I'm going to work on some martial arts moves to block those projectiles - I just need to get some karate pants first.
