This was a nice birthday present, the one above. Mommy was sitting down in the living room after making herself tea. The thinking was that it was time to watch whatever movie we had decided on earlier. And that was true, from a certain point of view. But Daddy had the computer plugged in, and here's where she got to see all the pictures that people sent her, pictures of themselves holding up signs that said, "Happy Birthday." It was birthday #64, so that's the song that's playing, and it's been stuck in our heads all day. It was a sweet moment though, bringing a few tears of joy to Mommy's eyes as she saw all the thoughtfulness.
The birthday wishes came flooding through her social media of course, and elsewhere. Nana and Ye-Ye dropped by as well, with some great birthday gifts. Firstly, there are all kinds of herbs and plants for our garden box on the back porch. These will be great for all season long as additions to our cooking. The other thing they found at Goodwill was a four-CD set of Monkees, what looks like it was part of a box set. Each of the 4 CDs has a picture of one band member on it, so when you put the four of them together, it's the whole band. We'll be listening to that soon enough!
Here's something else that happened today: our KidPak Zoom meeting. You can probably spot me fairly easy in this photo.
Madison didn't have any classwork to do today, so it was a bit of a relaxing day for her. There was piano practice to do - she has gotten fairly advanced on her recital piece, and is doing well with some of these other new pieces of music she's been asked to practice. She's wanting some new sheet music though, sheet music for the Davy Jones theme. No, not Davy Jones from the Monkees. She likes the pirate Davy Jones' theme music!
Tonight, we had a nice birthday dinner for Mommy, one she was asking for earlier. We had a Texas Roadhouse meal - at home!
Daddy and Madison ordered the food, and picked it up from Texas Roadhouse and brought it home for a really nice birthday meal. It was great! And it was all free: some good friends had sent us an online gift card, which was super sweet. We enjoyed this meal so much. It was an unusual way of getting it, but with the current situation going on in the world, it worked. There were plenty of cars in the parking lot, and plenty of people supporting the restaurant and picking up their meals in the parking lot. It was pouring rain, but there we all were, getting our steak dinners to take home. What a blessing for Mommy too.
After dinner, that's when saw the Mother's Day video. Mommy was surprised by it. She'd gotten a lot of comments throughout the day, but this was nice as well. She was so surprised - it was a wonderful moment.
We did wind up watching a movie together, and in honor of our "The Quest" series at KidPak, we're starting an Indiana Jones marathon. Our messages in the series are based on archeology, and a bit of Indiana Jones too. Here's one joke message idea that Pastor Lance and I were sharing today.
Tonight we saw "The Temple of Doom," as we're watching the movies in chronological order, versus the way they were released. After that, it was time for reading, time for prayers and time for sleep. It was a good day for Mommy, although she was up through the last few nights, and even tonight, deadline with the side effects of the medication. But her heart was happy with the birthday greetings and the nice day she had.
