Mom's Day

Madison made this little card for Mommy today for the special day, and also got her a real card - plus some Butterfinger candies too!  She also made this card below for Nana - she even took this picture a few months ago:

Today we went over to surprise Nana with the running joke of "Gone with the Wind" that's been ongoing for many years now.  This year, we did a variation by having two stand-up figures of Rhett Butler and Scarlet O'Hara standing there at the front porch - wearing masks!  It got big laughs from the grandparents, and made for a funny group shot here:

It was a nice time today, and a long time spent together at the grandparents' house.  It's been a while since the rest of us have been together like this, so it was very nice for Nana to have the family here.  She was very pleased - we had pizza and cake, and there were a few gifts, but I think the greatest gift of all was having everyone there together.

We had a good morning too, of course, watching service at Free Chapel and also going to our KidPak service to see the end of the results of the cooking contest we did earlier in the week.  The boys' and the girls' teams each had a half hour to cook up a Mother's Day surprise using various ingredients, and both teams did a fantastic job.  Two mother judges came in to make a decision, and both of them had no idea who made which item.  But they decided the girls team had the winning entry, and of course there was much celebration about that.

Daddy did a bit of power washing today, getting to the back deck.  But we also went to the Atlanta Ballet.  Not really, of course, but they were live-streaming a production of "Beauty and the Beast," so we sat down to watch an afternoon matinee of the ballet.  And of course tonight we continued our Indiana Jones marathon with "The Last Crusade."  I saw this the morning it came out at a theater in Athens.  I remember seeing that there, and seeing the previous two in a theater in Hightstown, New Jersey (Raiders) and a theater in Wayne, New Jersey (Temple of Doom), while visiting the grandparents back in the day.  We've seen all three of these movies plenty of times since then, as they're great movies.  Plus, we've been on "The Quest" at KidPak a few times.  Today was the beginning of that series, technically, with our first message being about "The Name of God."  It's actually about "The Power of a Name," where we look at the names of God, and the meanings of our names, or how God can change the meanings of our name.  It was a good message, and it'll be a good series.

We read tonight, almost done with our story about Bossk and Ezra Bridger.  It's been good, actually, even better than the Ahsoka book we read earlier.  It's a library book, one we've held on to for months now, along with three others.  The library will open up possibly in June, at least with a curbside pick-up system in place.  That said, these books have had a due date of June 1st all this time, so we figured we'd better get around to reading this one!

We said our prayers tonight, and we went to sleep at a reasonable hour, at least for us.  We've been shifting later and later for some odd reason, and sleeping later too.   We've got to start shifting that back a bit, especially if I'm heading back to the office to work soon.  Anyway, we did our routine tonight as always - despite all that's going on, nothing stops the hide-and-seek and the throwing of stuffed animals at Dad, the reading and the prayers and the goodnight kisses and zerberts.
