Log Roll

This morning, Madison got a double portion.  That is to say, she went through the prayer line twice.  Once a year, all the students at Free Chapel go through the main sanctuary and are prayed for by Pastor Franklin and the staff working up there.  It's a simple service, but an important ones for the parents and obviously the children.  As it is a more time intensive sort of activity, we don't have much of a service at KidPak, however we do try to leave them with a little bit.  For example, a contract for the year - guidelines from scriptures of how we're supposed to act during the school year.  Not really commandments, so much, but more like advice and guidance.  Anyway, there was that and another little object to remind them of the day:  a carabiner.

First of all, it is very difficult to not imagine pirates holding on to these.  Pirates of the carabiners?  Anyway, we had these ordered - they have the KidPak logo on it, along with a scripture from Deuteronomy 31:8:

"The Lord himself will go ahead of you. He will be with you. He will never leave you. He’ll never desert you. So don’t be afraid. Don’t lose hope."

They turned out nice, and they sort of fit our adventure mode we've still got going on at KidPak.  Madison got two of these as well, actually three.  She's got them in the house now, clipped together in a chain link.  The idea though, is to have them with you at school as a reminder of the scripture - maybe attached to a bookbag or something.

ANYWAY, after the service this morning, Madison and the other kids were able to go outside and enjoy all of these inflatables we had set up in front of the church.  And... there were snowcones.  No joke.  We had free snowcones again, just as we will this upcoming Wednesday for our Back-to-School Bash.  Madison jumped up and down for a while in a few of the inflatables, enjoying the slides as well - and then there was this rolling log thing that was a big hit with the kids.  Basically, the premise was this:  four people stand on four pedestals in four corners on an inflatable mat.  In the middle of the four is something that rotates a log around towards each of the four.  They have to either jump or duck to avoid the log swinging around at them.  Of course, there is someone controlling the log to a certain degree, so speeds and even angles may vary.

Madison was simply loving this.  If not for the longer line, she would have done it again and again.  One time, she got caught by the log while trying to go over it - and she got lifted up high, and dropped down to the inflatable mat below.  She got up laughing hard!  It was so much fun for her!

After snowcones, we came back home for rest of the day.  And we do mean 'the rest of the day.'  Because we rested quite a bit afterwards.  There were video games, and book-readings, and a bit of writing for Daddy too.  He's got a lot of work to do towards our new time traveling series, so one message at a time, he's getting it done.

But it was a fun day, one mixed with rest, and a few other parts fun with a great day at church.
