Rrrrrright!

Open house tonight at the school, and heavily advertised hot dogs!  These were the kind of hot dogs I remember eating when I was growing up.  That is to say, they tasted best when covered with something else to hide their taste!  No problem for Madison, who douses everything with an excessive amount of ketchup.*

There were drinks and chips as well, which was a nice gesture of the school.  We all ate in the cafeteria, and then adjourned to the classrooms to once again meet our teachers, and learn a bit about classes, curriculum, technology, and subjects upcoming.  It was nice, and it was short - which was also nice!  I am always surprised at the amount of parents who do not show up though.  Anyway, we enjoyed it and feel pretty comfortable about where Madison is this year, as we have for the past few years.

Before the open house, we had speech therapy, which sort of made things tight in the scheduling.  Crawling up 400 after speech therapy is a time-consuming chore.  I can't imagine those that have to do this all the time.  There's this one place at McFarland's exit, where four lanes suddenly cut down to two lanes.  I want to know who's brilliant idea this is.**

Speech therapy has been good to Madison, who loves the variety and has been practicing her r's more frequently.  One of her practice words has been "right," which she says quite frequently.  But to make sure she's doing it correctly, she really emphasizes that 'r' in the word, and ends up sounding like this:

It's great though!  She's really making progress, and we're pretty pleased.  We have a ways to go, but she's on her way.  In other words, we think she's doing alrrrrrright!

* We go through roughly one container of ketchup per week.  Not an exaggeration.

** Brilliant here is used with a slight*** dose of sarcasm.

*** Okay, so that was sarcastic too.
