Roads?

We got these new Back to the Future sunglasses in this afternoon, which prompted Daddy to take a picture of Madison posed in the car, as if to say, "Roads?  Where we're going, we don't need roads."

Gradually, we're getting all kinds of stuff for the display case, including this action figure of Dr. Emmett L. Brown:

October 21, 2015 is coming up soon.  And though we may not have any flying cars or hoverboards quite yet, there is going to be a pretty fun celebration.  Already we've been invited to a special viewing party over at a friends house. We were deciding on costumes to wear - our friend is going to be Biff.  Madison might be one of the little girls in part two, the one who grabs that big hoverboard, a "pitbull."  Daddy was thinking of maybe one of these options, which you can feel free to borrow for your Back to the Future Party:

1.  3-D glasses for henchman.
2.  Jackie Gleason as Man on the Moon
3.  Dave's Burger King uniform.
4.  Train Engineer
5.  Big bearded ZZ-Top Band Member, complete with twirling guitar

We'll have a better idea as we get close, but odds are this will be Daddy's Halloween costume as well.  As Madison has not seen the movies yet, this might be something to do in the near future.

ANYWAY, today was a day for work for Daddy.  And a day of school for Madison.  What else is new there?  She did do a little bit of homework online, and we finished another puzzle from the library as well.  Daddy continued his reading tonight with another chapter from the Jack Sparrow book.  But we also read something new for Madison from the Bible - the story of Deborah.  This was a kids version of the story, still keeping factual while presenting it in a way that's easier for her to follow along with.

Tonight was our Back-to-School Bash, a big celebration with inflatables and games and loud music, one where hundreds of kids showed up from all over to kick off the school year with a party.  The sun was hot today, and fortunately cooler later on, although there is a lot of wear and tear on Daddy lately with all the lugging things around.  Still, it was a big success for everyone involved!

Another thing continued today was the writing of messages for our new series about time travel.  This message below is based on the moment that time stopped in the Bible.  As we close out, here it is below, some pretty interesting stuff.

Joshua stopped to make a bad deal.  He just didn’t know it yet!  In the book of Joshua, chapter 9, he and the Israelites were tricked into making a peace treaty with the Gibeonites, a people that were enemies of God.
Israel’s problem was that they didn’t talk to God about it first.  And that can be our problem too.  Frequently, we find ourselves getting involved in situations that wear us down, and keep us from being the Christians that God wants us to be.
That’s why there are many times we need to just stop.  Israel shouldn’t have been associating with the people of Gibeon at all.  Are you hanging around with anything or anyone that is causing you trouble?  If it is something that God isn’t pleased with, the best advice is simple:  stop, and get away.
If Joshua could go back in time and change it all, you know he would. If only he talked to God first! And many times, yes, that’s our problem too.  All of us need to stop, and pray.  When you stop and talk with God, He will stop to listen.  He sees, and He hears the prayers of those in need of help.  Be still, and know He is God.
In the end, Joshua wound up in a war he did not need to fight.  And in that conflict, he had a big problem:  Joshua needed more time to win a battle.   But this time he learned his lesson.  Who better to talk to about it than God?  In the book of Joshua, the Bible tells us that the Lord listened to a mere human being, and did one of the most amazing miracles of the entire Bible:  God actually stopped the sun in the middle of the sky.  That’s right, it didn’t go down for about a full day.  Joshua stopped to pray, and God stopped time!
At the end of this long day, Joshua stood there victorious.  He was a clockstopper!  And you can be victorious too – you just need to stop hanging around the wrong people or things, and be sure to stop to pray.  And that’s when God will stop to listen, and stop everything to move in your lives.
