Back to the Lab

Weird Science was back today - and so were Nana and Ba-Ba.  Weird Science first - it was a great morning, the "tour of the solar system" that we typically give, one that shows just how small we are amongst the cosmos.  We serve a limitless God, who has a limitless love for each of us.  The lab was set up on the stage, and there were eight actors for the skit - all of us equipped with lab jackets to take on the day.  It was a fun service, times two.  Madison enjoyed it, and got a taste of a series we've done now four times, going back at least ten years.

It was a day of rest afterwards.  Although Madison had some piano to accomplish.  We ate at home, and pretty much got the rest we needed after a big weekend setting up the newest series.  This one is a short one, compared to recent efforts:  we'll have it ongoing about five weeks or so.  Leading up to Summer Xtreme, which is pretty soon!

The neat thing about today was the arrival of Nana and Ba-Ba.  They got here remarkably early, without incident.  This was a big surprise for us - it was neat to see them here so early.  We got to spend more time this afternoon, sitting around playing cards with Madison, and sharing stories about things that have happened in between.  Somewhere in there was dinner, and a rather relaxing and pleasant afternoon.  Madison was quite happy to see her grandparents once more, racing to the front door to open it for them. They'll be here another week, so I'm sure we'll have time to do a few fun things along the way.

As we leave today, here's the latest devotional writing, an entry dedicated the most excellent of elements:

Work at everything you do with all your heart. Work as if you were working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Colossians 3:23 NIrV

PLATINUM
Pt 78

There’s silver, and then there’s gold.  But then even better than that, there’s platinum!  This is a precious metal a lot of people are after.  It’s extremely valuable, used in jewelry, and even used with money.  Did you know that even the Queen of England has platinum in her crown?  This metal is extremely stable, resistant to wear and tear, and pretty nice to look at too!
When you think of the word platinum, you think of the very best.  And in some cases, you’re paying for the very best.  Platinum is just one of those words you associate with excellence.  That means it’s not just good.  It’s the very best of the best.
Which, of course, is what we should be.  Christians aren’t slouches.  We don’t walk around like we have lead in our feet.  No, when we do anything, God wants us to do it to the best of our ability.  Platinum level quality!
Paul was a platinum kind of guy.  Listen to what he wrote in Colossians:  “Work at everything you do with all your heart.  Work as if you were working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

The truth is, with everything we do on earth, God is watching.  And He wants to see us do our best, because He’s waiting to reward our efforts with something even greater.  So whatever you have to do – homework, chores, whatever – be sure to remember to work at it with all your heart.  Don’t just do a good job.  Do a platinum level job!
