So today is Wednesday. Once a week, we get to see a big pile of Madison's homework, classwork, and tests. And we're always pretty pleased with what we see - our girl has lots of smarts. And there are the doodles too, which is what you see above. This drawing is easily one of my favorite drawings I've seen her do. She does plenty of princesses and unicorns and rainbows. And then there is this frog thing with buck teeth, hoisting his kectup into the air, squirting the precious liquid upwards like a sprinkler. His expression is what gets me. It's as if he has no control over himself - he's got his kectup, and it is time to party!
Today was Wednesday, which means tennis practice. And church for Daddy. Tonight was our last service of the series "Northern Lights," and Daddy wanted to do something memorable. Also, we still have that "Olaf" costume, so we thought why not do a musical number? We had Elsa and Anna sing earlier, so why not Olaf? The problem is that Olaf doesn't move his lips with that costume. And he can't exactly move his head so much. He just sort of waddles/plods about, wiggling his arms around a bit. So, the question was what to do for the roughly two minutes during the song, "In Summer." The answer: destroy the set. It was the last night, right? And we didn't exactly destroy the set. But the idea was to have Olaf going out there and acting as if he was singing along with the song. But about forty or fifty seconds into it, suddenly he starts accidentally knocking down all the trees and the stonework and everything. It turned out to be a pretty epic moment, one that had everyone laughing the hardest we've seen them laugh at KidPak in a long time.
Tonight we met with a local karate studio about doing a big kick-off (pun intended) for our new series on Sunday, "Kung Pow!" We might be seeing more from this group again, perhaps getting Madison involved with a karate camp. This guy makes it fun, so we'll see if she likes it or not. That's the purpose of camps, generally, to get your feet wet in a certain field. We'll see how that turns out!
Meanwhile, tennis is going well, as Madison is doing well there. She's anxious to go outside, as are we, of course. But winter has declared, "You ain't see the last of me!" It's gotten suddenly cold again, and in fact there's a winter weather advisory in place. One moment, it's sixty degrees. The next, we're back to a winter weather advisory. We might even see snow!
