It is Tuesday. That means Jazz Hands. Every morning, we've been trying to take that picture of Madison in the same pose in front of the door. The hope is to have another collection of photos taken that when assembled, show her growth over the second grade year. She finds it hard to pose the same way twice though, so it's not exactly like one of the movies you can find elsewhere online - the ones that show a person growing up before your eyes in less than four minutes.
This morning's pose, for example, involved jazz hands. This is an important phrase we taught Madison this morning. She was doing a proper execution of jazz hands, nearly flawless. If judges were present, they'd give her outstanding scores.
And this might be because of the gift that she had just received. Yes, it was the weekly "you did your piano practice motivational gift." But this one was something we were planning on giving her anyway. It was a Chinese New Year display, with some new items for her. One was a "It's a Small World" doll from China. We ordered this one quite a few months ago, and have been holding on to it ever since, to give her for the Chinese New Year. These dolls have gone up in value somewhat, now that they're pretty much sold out. We have five of them, currently. We do not, however, have the most valuable ones. Those are already at prices that are, when you do the proper calculations, utterly ridiculous. Are you telling me someone is willing to pay $700 for a doll that sings "It's a Small World" over and over again? Apparently so. We did not pay that much. And we own five of them. We don't need the whole ride - where would we put it? That's the collector mentality that frequently gets the best of us.
Anyway, one other thing that Madison got was the Monster High doll Jinafire Long.
She is the Chinese entry in the Monster High series, a fashion designer who happens to be a dragon. This is the evidenced by the name "Long," which means "dragon." We know this because Madison's name was Long Mei Yang at one point. The "Long" is for dragon. So Jinafire and Madison have a bit in common. Although Madison has yet to learn how to breathe fire. We're not holding out for that.
Anyway, there was also a booklet on how to speak Mandarin, a coloring activity book that we'll be visiting from time to time. And there was a red envelope, of course. We've had a good time in China with some great cartoons this week, and of course we're gearing up for our new series, "Kung Pow!"
This afternoon, there was piano practice. The weather is getting cooler outside - you can feel winter not letting go of us quite yet, as if to say, "Not so fast!" We rushed in for piano, and things got complicated in a hurry! We're doing this more complex song, "The Secret Box," which is pretty to hear - but pretty difficult to learn if you're just starting out. Daddy will have to spend some more time in practice, for sure!
Tonight, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returned, and we'll certainly miss "Agent Carter," but the Marvel fun lives on: Mommy and Daddy have our weekly routine in the guest room, where the antenna is. Until then, we were with Madison, doing homework, coloring, and getting in a tiny bit of Disney Infinity. Daddy is about to submit a level he created, based on a parking lot. Yes, it's the EPCOT parking lot tram race - how exciting is that?
Okay, it happens to be during the Garden and Flower Festival, so maybe it is better than you think. Or maybe not. We'll see how many people download that one. Until then, Madison and Daddy are going to have fun playing that made-up level.
And so, that was our Tuesday. Rather ordinary, as far as Tuesdays go. Mommy and Daddy did watch the Prime Minister of Israel's speech. Unlike other leaders in this country. He did well, and though his political prospects are in question back at home, he would do rather well in certain parts of the country here. It was good to see a lot of our politicians support Israel. Tough times are ahead, and we need to stick together. There was only one thing he didn't do that I was really hoping to see from the Prime Minister of Israel:
Jazz Hands!
