Meetings and Stuff

Here's our banner for our new series upcoming, one that Madison had very much to do with.  First of all, the girl there is Rosie, the LEGO girl that Madison created in Florida last spring.  And the alien is the one that never got traded, still hanging around, suspended from the logo itself.  Soon, these huge banners will be situated throughout the KidPak area, and it's neat that Madison had a little help in the design.

She earned a trip to Legoland Discovery Center in Atlanta today, part of the reward system that we set up for her doing various computer tasks online.  There are still other rewards, but this was the one that cost the most rewards points, and the one she was anxious to trade in.  This Saturday, the plan is to redeem that reward, and make a visit to Legoland once more.  We know this one is significantly smaller, but we'll still have fun nevertheless.  The hope is to get immersed in the culture and the ideas and draw as much inspiration as possible.  Already, Daddy has written the first message of the new series, but we'll want to do so much more, which is the reason he is reading books about LEGOs and watching movies about the company and of course we're planning that upcoming trip.  Did you know when it was a smaller company, they opened each day with a group prayer?  Just learned that from reading an official LEGO book.

We had piano today, which went well despite all the kids being filled with amazing energy. Daddy, on the other hand, has been seriously depleted lately - very tired, very often.  We're thinking this is a symptom of some lurking little bug that's been going on.  Other people have been tired quite a bit too, and this is all despite a full night's rest.  Not sure what's up there.

But piano went well.  Madison is doing good there, using both hands, and playing well.  She's learning, and starting to pull ahead of Daddy, certainly when it comes to playing things for the first time. She gets concepts a little quicker sometimes.  Well, Daddy understands the concepts, but Madison can play them a lot faster.

We had a massive meeting at the office today, one that went on and on.  We were grateful for it, but sometimes those things can drain you!  Still, we planned out the future of KidPak somewhat, even getting to our theme for Summer Xtreme next year, "Tribes in Space!"

Madison did a lot of homework today, on the computer and off.  She did a lot of reading as well.  While she was reading, Mommy was made aware of a great deal on a new hotel in Gatlinburg, so guess where we're also going in October?  It's going to be a month full of fun, that's for sure.

We have a new event coming up for next Friday, a little thing called "KPM."  That's where we'll be inviting parents to a KidPak service on a Friday night - we're pretty excited about this service.

So that's been a lot of our work lately.  But also there was time for play:  Madison is now in possession of the crystal skull, after a little bit of adventure with Indiana Jones.  I'm not sure when she'll ever see these movies, but she'll know the stories of all of them by heart just based on these games.  Madison has a thing for Indiana Jones.  It's a good thing we ran into Marion tonight, because now she has a girl to play as.

Anyway, it was a busy day.  We said our prayers tonight and went to bed earlier than usual.  I think everyone's a bit tired lately.  The weather has been overcast and threatening rain, but not so much the last few days.  It feels like a Northwestern sort of forecast, where there isn't hardly any sun.  I remember visiting Crescent City one time and feeling claustrophobic under that low cloud covering.  Such has been the weather the last few days.  The bright spot has been a lower temperature, a reminder that fall is  indeed on the way.  And now suddenly we're pining away for all the sunny weather somewhat - but not too much.  Fall is such a great time, and here we are at the beginning of it all.  It's going to be a great season!

And speaking of seasons, we got "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." on blu-ray today - Mommy and Daddy are going to cram some viewing in of the whole season one as we lead up to season two.  Don't touch Lola.
