National Taco Day

Mommy sent word this afternoon that today was a very important day:  it's National Taco Day.  When Daddy rushed home later on, the taco you see above was created.  Daddy and Mommy showed Madison how to "decorate" a taco, and soon she was getting into it.  When she was done, Daddy took a picture - after all, this is her first ever taco!  We then showed her the correct method of eating a taco, and the rest is history:  she had two of them tonight, followed by some other corn chips as well.

She's never really been interested in trying a taco before - it all has to do with a phrase she's been saying all week long:  "Tacodile.  SUPREME!"  She's been quoting this movie all week, and sure enough, when it was discovered to be National Taco Day, the next thing you know she's giving one a try - and liking it!

The rest of our day was work and school - Madison had a substitute teacher today, but she still did great on her test.  She's got some new words, including the challenging "figure."  She's also got some new educational applications on her Kindle, which she seems to be mastering quite well.  She's exceptionally great with math, which is clearly not Daddy's strongest suit.  It, however, may be Madison's strong suit - she's naturally gifted with numbers.

Tonight's Halloween-themed movie was the first live action "Scooby Doo" movie, which we've always enjoyed.  Madison had never seen it before, and being a fan of the Scooby Doo cartoon series, this was an enjoyable flick for her.  We had the big thing of popcorn set up and sat down for some fun at the movies.

It was a quiet day overall - also, the latest news is that the tropical storm heading this way is not quite as organized as it once was.  This brings to mind a tropical storm with its shirt not quite tucked in, looking around for car keys, and maybe stacks of paper all over its desk.  "Unorganized" also means that it clearly won't be doing any barreling any time soon.  No, tropical storm "Karen" is somewhat of a disappointment to other more organized storms, who no doubt look down upon her with scornful looks.

It'll still be here Sunday night - so we're clearly getting wet again.  But fortunately, we'll still have a much larger percentage of our trees still standing when it decides to visit.
