High Flyer

This morning, Madison woke us up at about 3:30 am.  About a half-hour beforehand, Mommy had gone in her room to give her the latest dose of fever medication.  A half-hour later, she was calling out. Groggily, Mommy and Daddy ask what it is she wants - and Madison tells us, "I'm a High Flyer.  I want to go to school."

So there it was.  The truth is that the fever broke last night before bed - Madison was sweating a lot, which is apparently a good sign at the end of a fever.  We were still iffy about school today, although the doctor did say Madison would probably be good to go.

This morning, we dropped Madison off at school, and just like with the last award ceremony, we came to the cafeteria with all the other proud parents to watch the awards being given out to each child.  One by one the names were called out, and soon enough, Madison was up there on stage, proudly beaming with her latest achievement.

Daddy didn't get to see much of Madison today because of work - and tennis.  Can you believe Madison wanted to go to tennis practice?  One day she has strep throat, and the next, she's at school and playing tennis.  If I had strep throat, I'd be milking that for all it's worth, taking off whatever I could!

I was so glad to see her this morning at school.  And it didn't stop with just the awards - we actually went to the Book Fair together afterwards.  Her teacher suggested because she missed it with her class yesterday, why not drop by with Madison ourselves after the award ceremony.  So that we did, looking around and finding some books for Madison (yes, the Fly Guy books and the Pinkalicious books).  We also made a donation for the class to have a book as well.  So she was pleased to get to do the Book Fair after all, and we were already there at the school, so it made sense.

On our way out of the library, we saw something special hanging on the wall:  it was one of Madison's pictures!  She had created another one of her princess drawings, and there it was right at the entrance of the school for all to see.  How proud are of you, Madison!

We dropped her off at her classroom afterwards, and said our goodbyes.  Of course, Daddy skyped later to wish her a good night.  How wonderful to be able to talk face-to-face, despite the distance.  It's Wednesday night, which is a church night.  It went well here, but Daddy is always thinking about going home quickly to see the family afterwards.  Even if one of them is sleeping.  Daddy snuck in and gave Madison a quick kiss on the cheek as she slept, glad she's feeling better - and so very proud of our little high flyer.
