This morning before school, Madison tried the Booberry. For some reason - and this might make her teacher proud - she felt compelled to take out the marshmallows in her cereal (she likes it without milk). That's the point where she started lining up all the similar marshmallows.
Looking to Daddy and Mommy, she then announced, "It's a Bar Graph."
We did a little around the house today, starting a massive clean-up project that will take a few months to complete. One room in particular is going to be much nicer. We've always been a little unsettled about the huge pile of DVDs on shelves in one of the rooms of the house. I believe we're going to hide those away in the basement now, for lack of anywhere else to put them. THEN, we'll move around some furniture in there and make it look much nicer. Also, now with a "sewing desk" downstairs for fabrics and whatnot, we can move the sewing machine downstairs as well, and change out yet another room upstairs to more of the dining room that we initially envisioned. Lots of moving around over the next few months, and of course the busiest time of year too. The good news is that we've gotten a lot of our Christmas shopping done. It's going to be busy, but we're somewhat ahead of the curve. Why, today I even got my emissions inspection and driver's tag done a few weeks earlier than the last possible minute, which is what I usually tend to do there. If only our government was just as efficient!
Yes, the shutdown is still on and in effect. The stories are terrible lately, getting a lot of people more and more upset. It's not a pretty road our country is traveling down. We've been saying a lot of prayers for our nation as of late. Hopefully everyone else is too.
Tonight we had ballet practice again. It took Madison a little longer this week, but she's got all her spelling words down too - to clarify, she always has the standard list down without any problem. It's some of the more advanced words that sometimes challenge her. For example, this week's challenge was "figure." When also on the spelling list you have words like "bigger" and "Tigger." Whoever decided to spell "figure" thought it would be fun to deviate from the path a bit, just to confound first graders. Really, I have no problem when I hear people say English is a harder language to learn than Spanish or Italian.
Madison practices hard though. She's still working on her virtual room too. Remember the one on the pink planet? She's been reading and saving up - we'll have to post another picture update of that room soon.
Tonight before bed, we were reading from Alice in Wonderland again. Those rude flowers! Madison is enjoying the reading time, even the moments where there are no pictures. This is great - Daddy has been looking forward to this time too, where he can read larger, longer stories. We've got a big collection of Tinkerbell adventures that he's been saving up since long before she was even born.
The good news is that she's completely healthy. And sleeping well too. Daddy and Mommy said goodnight, and snuck downstairs for the latest in our October movie series: "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken." Attaboy, Luthor!
