There was a free puppet show at the library tonight, and our good friends showed up to catch the show as well. It was the return of Dr. Dinosaur, where Madison and Matthew sat in the front, laughing all the way. We're really grateful to have so many of these free events at our local library - very blessed!
Earlier in the day, we were at the School of Ballet again, where Madison was continuing her day camp. It's been fun for her - she's enjoying her teacher and the lessons she's learning. This Friday, we're having another class there about digging for rocks - Ye-Ye might enjoy that! It's a free S.T.E.M. class (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathmatics). The class is actually called "Digging Rocks," and is designed for kids kindergarten through fifth grade. The best part is that it is free - we registered for Madison pretty early for it, and a recent look at the class revealed that it was full - no more room in the class.
Before that class, we've got another quasi-ballet recital - it's just a showcase of what Madison has learned this week. Obviously, Daddy will be there for that one. Can't miss it! Ballet today went well, and Madison is making new friends and learning new things as well. The location is nice too, as described so well yesterday. In short, we've been pretty happy with camp.
When we arrived home, there was definitely more room for piano practice. Madison was a little rusty when we started up again yesterday, but today seemed to getting back into it a little easier. In fact, she was actually doing better than Daddy at remembering one song in particular. Uh-oh - now it's Daddy's turn to keep up with Madison.
We kept the reading program going too. Madison is amazing with her reading - she's been reading all these books on her own, without Daddy's help in many cases. She sat in the back of the car with a few books, reading one after another, all by herself. She reads out loud, and she's getting better and better. It's such a delight to hear this, just knowing how she's into reading and knowing how well she's doing it.
We did spend some time with archeology today - that is to say, we played "Lego Indiana Jones 2" again. Madison has sort of gravitated in this direction again for some random reason. Daddy was okay with this, as he needed a little break. The two of us, Indiana Jones and Marian, had some adventures for a bit this afternoon - all leading up to the big puppet show at night.
And what a surprise to see our friends there! We invited others this morning with a quick email, just letting others know about freebies. That's the thing this summer: freebies. We're all sending each other information about free events, or discounted ones, and things to do with the kids. Already, the calendar is looking great: we've got lots of fun planned!
