Back to the Hot Club of Cowtown

We went back to see the Hot Club of Cowtown tonight, and look what they did!  We got them to sign a CD for Madison.  Elana James (fiddle and vocals) signed it to her, along with a little heart, as you can see above.  Madison giggled when she saw her name, surprised that someone would do that for her.  Madison didn't go to this concert, instead staying with another family from the church.  We bought a CD for them, and asked Elana to sign it, and write:  "Thanks for babysitting!"  This gal is pretty awesome - she went along with it for a unique souvenir.  Right on the back it says, "Thanks for babysitting!"

It was another great concert.  "Orange Blossom Special" is one of those things you have to experience.  But it's not just the fiddle - the stand-up base and guitar are equally incredible.  The band puts on an incredible show.  I wish I brought a camera - one of the funnier things about it was their dog, Eva.  It came out on stage with them and sat in the back the entire time.  This picture sort of sums the imagery up here:

Eva just sat there through all the noise and chaos - the whole place was jumping, the crowd was energized, and we were all vowing to see each other the next time the Hot Club of Cowtown swings by.  Get it?  Swings by?

Anyway, this was a neat concert because we sat next to Daddy's friend from Hartwell, Danny.  And what was neat about that?  We didn't know he was coming!  He brought his daughter along for the show, and everyone had a really good time.

We hadn't been to Sautee in a while, so Mommy and Daddy went by the Old Sautee Store beforehand to look around.  Just like it used to be, there were cheese samples and trolls - and that old piano that plays off of the programmed music on sheets of paper with holes punched in them.  It was a great date for Mommy and Daddy, something we haven't had in a bit.  We were still a little worn down from Summer Xtreme, which made us grateful for the early start time on the concert.

In the morning, there was church.  It was a great service as always - Madison went to the second service, which she enjoyed a lot as well.  Despite all the activity of the week, we still managed to pull off a decent service, with God's help of course.  Once service was over, everyone was pretty much officially zonked.  No more work for a few days - we're essentially brain dead anyway!

Madison had a fun time with her friend Matthew today.  This was the place where Madison spent a good chunk of the day, while Mommy and Daddy were off having their fun.  She really enjoyed their company - Matthew is just a few years younger, but the two have seemed to really hit it off well.  Her mother works with Daddy at KidPak, and was kind enough to offer her services today, which worked out perfectly.  Madison was having so much fun, she wasn't quite ready to leave!

But leave she did, along with a very tired Mommy and Daddy.  We hit the bed pretty early tonight.  Tomorrow we can sleep in a little.  There's ballet in the morning, but other than that, the day is clear for a nice relaxing afternoon together.
