This amazing sculpture using a miniature tea set looks just like Mickey Mouse - and it is entirely created by Madison. She tapped us on the shoulder and said, "Look! Mickey!" It looked so neat that Daddy had to snap a photo of it, and here it is!
Today was another day of rest, although there was a bit of preparation for Valentine's Day. For example, Madison, Mommy and Daddy made delicious heart-shaped sugar cookies!
This has been a holiday treat we've been doing for years now - for just about any holiday. Mommy collects different shaped cookie cutters, and she cuts the cookie dough, passing along the shapes for Daddy and Madison to decorate with sprinkles. These cookies are going to be given out tomorrow, assuming we don't eat them all tonight!
Also, Madison filled out plenty of Valentine's Day cards for all of her friends at school - and Daddy's work. This took considerable time, but she was quite insistent on writing everyone's names herself: she wrote all her classmates' names, all of Daddy's friends' names and more. We had to spell each one, of course, but she did the writing herself.
Tonight, we start watching Valentine's Day movies in earnest! February's movie list is made up of romantic movies. That's the theme of the month, right? We visited the theme of Asian-themed movies in January (for Chinese New Year), and now are moving on to the month of love! Tonight's feature was "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," which is a still a great flick after all these years. We don't have any set list of movies, but we do have some favorites. Madison doesn't watch these yet, of course, but here's just a few:
1. "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"
2. "Sabrina"
3. "Beautician and the Beast"
4. "Return to Me"
5. "While You Were Sleeping"
6. "The Proposal"
7. "No Reservations"
8. "50 First Dates"
9. "Dave"
10. "Hitch"
11. "Sleepless in Seattle"
12: "IQ"
13. "Roxanne"
14. "Roman Holiday"
15. "Benny & Joon"
16. "You've Got Mail"
There are more, but these are generally the types of movies Mommy and Daddy watch in February. Number 4 on the list, "Return to Me," is significant in some ways because it was the movie we saw on our flight to Hawaii, when we were on our honeymoon. We'll be watching that one again this year. Another favorite is "Beautician and the Beast," which I don't understand why it isn't more popular. I think the movie is hysterical, but both Mommy and Daddy think Fran Drescher is extremely funny. Ironically, it was that movie that Daddy saw on a flight to Hawaii a few years earlier.
It's funny putting a list together like that. Note that it does not include musicals or fantasy stories - otherwise it'd be a few more pages long. We do get to those movies as well, but for now, February is a month of the traditional romantic comedies.
And tomorrow is the biggest day of the month! See you then...
