Crayon Sculptures

Madison is doing much better today, as shown here in this photo. We still kept inside, but with it being so chilly outside today anyway, we thought it would be smart to stay indoors. She was coloring for a bit, but then started making crayon sculptures by using the small plastic dresses from some of her dolls - and putting crayons inside them! This went on for a bit, actually. As you can see, this first attempt did not have any arms. Later models did have arms, green and purple ones. She was quite entertained by this.

This afternoon, Mommy won a contest online with a local radio station: it's been ages since we've won anything, so this gave Mommy a slight thrill! We got a few free tickets to an event coming up, one that I'll have to write about later when we go. Mommy is big on entering contests left and right. This might be because she used to win a lot.
One thing she
won was an epic trip to Washington DC, in order to see the first inauguration of President Ronald Reagan. The trip included visits to the Smithsonian and other monuments - and all of it was paid for. Mommy even got some spending money for the trip, though she said she didn't really need any of it. Yes, eventually we'll take Madison to Washington DC. You could spend over a week there in that city and still not see it all, but anyone who knows Daddy knows we'll give it a good try. Of course, we'll want to wait until Madison is old enough to appreciate and understand what it is all about. It's a neat trip because it's educational, but it also can be fun. Hopefully, they'll have the Washington Monument fixed by then...

Back to contests and awards: Daddy has won, to date, nothing. Okay, I take that back: in high school I won a box of this new gum flavor that was by some no-name company. It tasted dreadful. Each year they have raffles at the Christmas party for the church. I never win.

Personally, I think I am probably the reason for Mommy's dry spell on winning contests. I'm not saying I'm a loser, but when it comes to contests, I just haven't won anything.

We had another funny moment this afternoon with a puzzle Madison was doing. Evidently she's been doing the puzzle so much that she got bored with doing it right-side up. She actually was putting this puzzle together facedown. She's a puzzle prodigy! We just might have to give her some more challenging puzzles...

Tonight was a time of rest for all of us: we'd been working so hard this weekend. We snuggled on the couch for a bit, but soon it was time for more Lego Clone Wars. Madison is really enjoying these Lego games. Mommy and Daddy have been watching this television series each week - we're on Season 4 right now. It might be a little too shoot-em-up for Madison right now, but some episodes might be fun to watch with her. She's into the Star Wars thing, despite not seeing any movies yet (outside of "Star Tours"). In fact, this game is the most extensive Star Wars related thing she's done up until now. As everyone knows Daddy is a big fan, that's bound to grow...
