Look what a tasty treat Mommy had for us after ballet practice! You can see Madison still in her ballerina outfit, very much excited to decorate some delicious sugar cookies. These leaf-shaped cookies were waiting for us to sprinkle with different colors of sugar, so together we put all sorts of fall colors onto the cookies for fun, and had Mommy put them into the oven: sugar cookies, yum-yum-yum! Those words, by the way, are from a song called
"Sugar Cookies," a household favorite currently. Okay, so "favorite" might not be the right word. It is, however, one we tend to hear quite a bit. The reason is this: it is Madison's homework.
"Sugar Cookies" is a simple song that uses just three notes (C, D, E), and is one that Madison plays just about daily for piano practice - but it gets really stuck in your head! The thing is this: Madison can really play it now, and really read the notes on the scale. Yes, it is simple - but she plays each note as Mommy points to the them on the sheet music on the scale. That's pretty sweet - just like sugar cookies!
Today we spotted a rainbow in the sky on the way home from ballet - Madison saw it hanging in the sky, deep and colorful. The storms that swiftly moved through made for a dramatic sunset today, the weather this mix of fall and summer, rain and sun. It was quite an interesting day, actually.
Tonight, we plopped down together (after cookies) to watch "Monsters, Inc." We're excited about a sequel in 2013, but are quite content to watch this movie once a year in October. Madison loves it, but so do we - it's still a great movie ten years later, with an ending that's really sweet. Yes, sweet like "sugar cookies."
