Today we had a serious hankerin' for Chinese food. Yesterday, Mommy just mentioned the phrase "egg drop soup," and that was that. We determined that today, by gum, after Madison got out of school, we would head to the Oriental Garden II and have ourselves a Chinese feast!
It was very good - Madison would back me up on that. She slurped her soup down and ate a few egg rolls, as Mommy and Daddy had a nice meal together. It was such a nice time together as a family. We've been eating at home a lot lately and saving lots of money, so these trips to restaurants are suddenly a bit more special.
You sort of get used to restaurants and spending money, but once we adjusted to eating stuff prepared from home, it's been great for our bottom line and also great for time management. It also makes us appreciate eating out more.
It has been challenging for Mommy to cook up a variety of things at home, but she's been more than up to the challenge. We've had some really creative, innovative meals at home as of late, and everyone has enjoyed it immensely.
Madison is getting steadily better with speech practice, and also her music practice. She's been playing the right notes for certain simple songs, by reading the music on the sheet. Perhaps it's been mentioned before, but it may be worthwhile noting that Madison will be able to read sheet music before she can actually read words. Still, we're working on the words part. We're working with her for speech, saying words and having her repeat them as well, to the best of her ability.
Tonight we watched "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," where once again, Linus blows the whole night waiting for the Great Pumpkin to arrive. Madison enjoyed it again, but so did Mommy and Daddy. We had popcorn ready and sat on the couch watching it together as a family. Poor Linus!
