Los Piratas Fantasma

Here Madison is playing a game again: "Los Piratas Fantasma." Of course, this is the Spanish translation for a Playmobil package we got yesterday. There were about twelve other translations on the instructions, which Daddy found amusing. It was an instruction sheet which was reproduced in about twelve languages, with some very simple rules. How did we get this game? Not intentionally. Apparently, we ordered so much from them for the "Gladiators" display case that they sent us a free small board game. Although, it isn't a board. It's a poster-sized piece of paper that folds out and comes with dice and game pieces. And a pirate ghost. And a three-headed miniature sea serpant. Yet, Madison really wanted to open this box up - so much so that she cleaned up everything in the living room and any other mess she had made.

When she did all that, Daddy had no choice but to release the pirate, the sea serpent, and the rest of the game.

All these elements actually add up to loads of fun, as Madison has wanted to play this game about three times already. Last night, we played twice - and first thing this morning, Madison wanted to play again before Daddy went to work. Reluctantly, he sat down and we rolled the dice once more for an adventure on the high seas.

Land on a ghost pirate space, and you get to roll again. Whenever this happens, Daddy would pick up the Playmobil pirate and in his best voice say, "Arrr! Roll again, matey!"

The funny thing was that this morning, Madison started doing her pirate voice whenever anyone landed on that spot. Hearing Madison say, "Arrr! Roll again!" - in a pirate voice, is something that every Daddy can only dream of!

Here is a photo of Madison making a castle in the middle of our office. Today was a serious work day, so you can see lots of mess about. Those building blocks are going to be given away to some friends of ours tomorrow, but in the meantime, Madison thought she'd have some fun with a few construction projects. This was her castle, but later she built something by Daddy's desk that was rather cavernous.

Daddy is still at work tonight, as this is one of those routines for the new series. But things are looking up, so maybe it won't be that late of a night tomorrow. We'll see. Still and yet, we've got quite a bit to do tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the rain continues to pour outside. The temperature is 36, so it is just cold rain. The rest of the country is getting hammered with a major blizzard tonight, but we're just cold and wet this time. This is the sort of winter we're used to in Georgia. But we were blessed a few occasions this time around, collecting quite a bit of snow - and enjoying some time off with each other too. So no complaints here!

2.4.11: Shrek's sprouting hair must be supernatural. This is evidenced by the visit of Las Piratas Fantasma. As you can see clearly here, we have obvious photographic evidence of this paranormal visitation. In order to accomplish this astounding image capture, we set up a three-camera security system that would be tripped when an apparition manifested. As you can see above, we found great success in capturing our first ghost image since the infamously unsuccessful campaign to acquire a decent picture of the elusive Booberry.
