We did spend some time cleaning the house a bit, and Madison got to spend some time enjoying her new Lite Brite playset. Daddy remembers having one of these too, making colorful images with scores of tiny little colored pegs. Already, Mommy and Daddy find themselves stepping on them left and right!
Madison does have some great educational toys, one of which teaches her to draw letters properly. It's an amazing device, and one I couldn't recommend enough!
This morning's children's service was a great success, and a good intro to something that we'll be really involved with for the next few weeks. January has five weekends in it, so this series will be one of our longer ones. The spy theme is always fun: for research, Mommy and Daddy watched a lot of spy movies, and a lot of the television series, "Get Smart." Seriously, when we wrote this thing, we watched James Bond movies, "The Tuxedo," "I Spy," "The Bourne Identity Trilogy," the "Spy Kids" movies and more. It was a lot of fun creating, and we'll have a ton of fun making it happen.
Next month, we're doing a series dedicated to the book of Romans, so for "research," we watched "Roman Holiday" together tonight after Madison went to bed. It was a great movie - neither of us had seen it before. Daddy actually did get an idea or two for his Romans devotional, and once again we noted that Edith Head did the costuming.
This is a fascinating lady to Mommy and Daddy. As the official costumer of Free Chapel - of late - Mommy was interested to watch the short documentary on Edith Head's career that was on the DVD. Pretty neat stuff. One of the reasons she wore those sunglasses is so that during meetings, people couldn't see her eyes and therefore "read into" what she was thinking. She did some amazing costuming work, but Mommy does some amazing costuming work too. In fact, Mommy should be doing the costuming for our upcoming Easter play when it rolls around, so she'll get into her Edith Head mode shortly. Until then, it's time to take a month to hopefully crash and sleep in heavenly peace.
