SX23 Day 3

Here's Maddie and Cyber Simon, or at least whatever you want to call the robot guy that makes visits with us from time to time.  He was last spotted at Forward, and here he is now at Summer Xtreme, completing his tour with us.  Maddie went out to say hi as he greeted all the kids getting dropped off this morning.

One other reason to head out there was a visit from Farmhouse Coffee, who blessed all the volunteers with free coffee to take on the day.  Of course we were doing all kinds of chocolate blends, because why not?

After the cast got their coffees, it was time to head in for practice!  There were microphone checks and videos to test out.  This morning during the skit, the entire audience gets Rickrolled, which is probably because Maddie was talking about that so much earlier on while we were writing the skits.

Here the team is testing microphones, doing yet another reading and run-through, and just starting on the blocking process.  We've already gone through this Sunday, but it's sort of a reminder of placements and how things should go.

Backstage, everyone practices in my office and of course there's worship going on, then videos and then another crazy game.  And eventually, the team headed out there for the third and final skit of the series, looking for that time core in ... the future!

We brought out the space suits again, and got some new ones for a few more cast members - they looked great.  Mom did such a great job with these costumes this week!  You can see Dawn above has the third time core, so it looks like things are going well for our team of intrepid time travelers!

Afterwards, the worship team came back - the one from upstairs this time - and Pastor Lance led one final message about heaven and the future.  It was a powerful service.

And after that, the big wrap-up and final battle with Manhead!  Maddie was there to help win the victory and save the timeline and Summer Xtreme, as well as award the winning tribe it's SX23 Award.

All that done, we left the church and headed over to Stars and Strikes for the final day's activities.  Everyone loaded up the buses one more time, and you can see Maddie with her group below - she's not a group leader, but an assistant, helping with moving these kids here or there.

When we arrived, it was time for fun.  Maddie was ready to do some bowling!

She got a strike this afternoon!  Still, we've done better in the past with bowling.  One big reason were the other kids that kept needing attention for various reasons, and that's okay.  It's not about the score so much as about just relaxing and having a good time.  And that we all did - there were the usual video games, the laser tag, the bowling, and the cardboard pizza too.  It was a fun afternoon.

We dismissed everyone at the end, and that went very well with the car pick-up line.  It was hot outside, but we got home eventually.  Gwinnett and Braselton are having their Summer Xtreme tonight, but we're done with ours.  No more energy in the tank for us!

We closed out the day with "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," continuing our Indy Movie fest.  We were fast asleep after that fairly quickly!
