At the Movies 23

Maddie and the cast were out promoting our movie theme, and fortunately the video game theme also fit in because the number one movie of the year is still "Super Mario Brothers," and that allowed us to sort of cross between the two.  There's a backdrop up top that allows people to pose for pictures, so we got all kinds of kids coming up - a huge line of families upstairs - all wanting to pose with the different characters, and that was fun.  No skits today - just the gang posing with families for our "At the Movies" theme upstairs and down.

Upstairs, the movie choice was "Top Gun:  Maverick," and downstairs we were doing "Sky High."  It was a pretty good morning - there were concessions for fun, and we had those as a prize for kids in the onstage games.

Afterwards, we were zonked!  We rested this afternoon, but we did go back to the church to get a Nerf gun because that's one thing needed for Maddie's camp tomorrow.  We also watched "Pete's Dragon," the original version.  It may have been noted here before, but my parents took me to see that when it premiered, and that was at Radio City Music Hall, and I even remember the Rockettes dancing before hand.  We had that song "Bill of Sale" on our minds because of Camille's performance at Summer Xtreme, the bossy villainous mom with her two nincompoop sons.  That song got stuck in our heads so much we had to watch that tonight, and we even had the soundtrack on - I've got it on vinyl.

Maddie and I spent some time playing the "Toy Story in Space" game for Disney Infinity, spending much of our time attacking each other instead of the villains.  I think we'd get these games done a lot sooner if not for the mischief!  Anyway, we played that for a while too.

We had a nice rotisserie meal there for lunch/dinner, and some ice cream afterwards.  And after that, it was time for an early night.  We're going to Rank Camp tomorrow, so an early night it is.  But we did finish "Life, the Universe and Everything" tonight, concluding the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" trilogy.  Of course there are three more books after this, but we're moving on to something else for a while, having done three in a row.

After prayers, it was time for sleep.  We were pretty tired still - it's been a long couple of weeks.  We got to sleep, setting the alarm and getting ready for another big week for Maddie.
