Back to School Bash '18

We had our Back to School Bash tonight, the one that was postponed last Wednesday due to that pretty massive storm.  Tonight, the weather was amazingly clear.  We were worried it would be too hot, in fact, but it turned out to be okay, even with the humidity.

Being a bit of a "pk," Madison got to go out there earlier, and went straight to her favorite obstacle course to see if she could get across.  The answer was yes - she does something that I'd say about 85% of the people who attempt this cannot:  get across it all without falling!

She, Josh and a few others made their attempts to cross the obstacle course, and then we went over for snow cones, which was perfect for a hot day like today.  Soon, many of the other kids were arriving, and Madison went to her favorite ride of late:

This one gets you a little seasick, or at least that's the effect on the adults!  But the kids love it, and in fact Madison rode this one a few times more after this, as the lines started getting longer for rides and inflatables.

She was happy to see friends tonight - all the kids were running around screaming and dancing to the loud music being played from our sound booth.  There are a few new dances, although Madison wasn't so much into that as she was the friendships, rides, and even hitting the baseball at that one station.  Fortunately, this ball sits there and floats in the air as a target so kids can swing and hit it, hoping to hit a point-value target.  I say "fortunately," because there's not some thug Miami Marlins player throwing it at you at 97 mph.  If you're a Braves fan in 2018, you know what this is in reference to, an unfortunate event that happened tonight in Atlanta that has all the grown-ups talking.

Back to the Back to School Bash:  it was a great success, and all the kids had a wonderful time.  Of course, we got back later tonight.  Still, we read from our book and said our prayers before bed.  It was a great day for Madison, who did well with her maps test.  She studied hard last night, so she did rather well, she thinks.  Also, there was a meeting with a speech teacher that we didn't know about until the last minute - this will happen bi-weekly on Wednesdays, so it's good to see that this is still happening as well.  We've still some issues there, but hopefully we'll begin to see these really ironed out as we go along.

In the end, it was a good day today, one that ended with a fun party for the kids.  We took a lot of pictures today, and in the end I've only got four here.  Trust me that a lot of people showed up, and it was a huge and unforgettable evening!
