Elsa's Time Portal

We were back at KidPak this morning, and it was time for another service "At the Movies."  You can see how we had various characters out there in the greeting area, one of them being our friend Camille, once again dressing up as Elsa.  They're posing in front of a prop we used for our "Heroes" movies, which makes for a really unusual backdrop for Elsa.  It's like she's ready to go through a time portal or something...!

Madison loves Camille, and has been posing with "Elsa" for years now - here they are a few years ago:

That was at Fall Festival in 2014, the first time Camille came to visit us dressed as Elsa.  It was a big night, and she said she was pretty nervous.  She's very comfortable now, having been this character time and again over the years!

The service this morning was based on the movie "Cars 3," and went really well.  We showed clips from the movie, and sort of preached off of that, talking about Colossians 3:23, doing everything with all our hearts, as if "unto the Lord."  Obviously, the whole ideas of "running the race" was a big concept this morning, and it all went rather well together.  The kids responded, still big fans of the Cars movies.  The truth is, so are we grown-ups!

After church, we got home, and had just enough time to eat a little, and then go off to the movies.  Today's movie was "Ant-Man and the Wasp."

There was still a good crowd here, a week after the movie release date.  And you can see why - it was a great movie!  This was one of the few Marvel sequels that Daddy liked as much as the first movie - this one had all of us laughing throughout, and can we talk about that mid-credits scene?  No, I suppose not yet, as it's still technically a spoiler.  But it got a huge gasp from the full auditorium.  This was our favorite movie of the year so far, believe it or not.  Lots of fun!  Madison enjoyed it, and was talking about different parts of the movie throughout the rest of the day, on the way home, and in the evening as well.

As far as "what we did the rest of the day" goes, it wasn't much to speak of.  Lots of rest, really.  Yesterday was quite a toll, and usually Sundays are somewhat tiring to begin with in the mornings.  The morning at KidPak is usually pretty intensive, especially with so many kids.  It's great fun, but then Sunday afternoon gets to you, no matter the age.  I remember being worn out by Sunday afternoon over a decade ago, when in between services (there used to be a Sunday night service), we'd just go home and nap, and hang out together at someone's house.  When Daddy met with Zena, her parents lived on the lake, and we'd go there, and just rest.  We'd sometimes go down to the dock to go fishing, but other times we'd just sit on the couch and talk.  A day of rest - the concept is there, at least!

Madison has been drawing lately, doing various people using a style she learned from another person at camp last week.  She's getting better and better with that.

We read from "The Vile Village" tonight, moving right along with this series.  It's only book seven though, and I think this will last a lot longer than I anticipated, especially if we keep doing just one chapter per night.  The girls are loving the story though, enjoying reading time.  It's a great time at night, the three of us together.  Madison has her routines just before bed, and then calls up that she's ready - and then hides some place different each night.  Daddy has to find her, and she jumps out and says "Boo!"  And then it's time for reading, prayers, and zerberts.  Yep, those still happen too, and the resulting sound effect is blamed on Daddy or Madison and back and forth until it's time to say one last "goodnight."

Speaking of which... "goodnight!"
