Sons of Liberty

Madison had a homework assignment about the Sons of Liberty, which is amazingly coincidental.  I mean, that's exactly what we're reading about at home with this latest Rush Revere book.  Here's an excerpt she wrote from her homework:

"Samuel Adams was a leader who wanted freedom from England.  He set up the Boston Tea Party.  That was a protest where the Sons of Liberty tossed the tea into the Boston Harbor.  England had plans to capture him.  But Paul Revere warned everyone in Boston, and rode his horse Brown Beauty to Lexington to warn Samuel Adams."

We've been reading this one for about a week at bedtime, and it's been a fun read.  It's interesting how immersed Madison currently is with the Revolutionary War period.  This makes Daddy want to pull out that David McCoullough book, "1776" again, and talk about all those locations up in the Northeast, from Concord Bridge to Valley Forge.  Madison likes Paul Revere the best out of all the folks from that time period, perhaps because of his horse, Brown Beauty.

Madison had to write out what independence means, and also what a colonist was.  And why exactly was Paul Revere a patriot.  Then there was the matter of that tea party, the sort of thing we were experts at by this point.  Madison is showing interest in all of this, and is learning a lot from different sources, from homework to bedtime reading.

The rest of the day... well, it was work for Daddy.  Mommy isn't feeling so well, so we skipped ballet for the day, just for now.  We'll be back next week, of course.

We had another great night at KidPak though, this time talking about Esther and "for such a time as this."  It was memorable, that's for sure - Daddy turned the reigns of the class over to an assistant, who did a great job, and even made those triangular hamantaschen cookies, dairy free!

The weather has been gorgeous, of course.  Now that we're back at work and school, the weather is perfect.  We may take advantage of that tomorrow if the weather is still good.

So that's pretty much Wednesday the 7th.  We're hoping Mommy feels better - she's had a tough week.  So has Daddy, come to think of it.  This old shoulder injury is coming back with a vengeance.  But other than that, we're doing well, and Madison seems content no matter where she is.  Today she did a lot of piano just to get ahead a bit.  Daddy bribed her with time playing Jurassic World tomorrow night, and she did so much that this is all but guaranteed.  She also did a lot of homework, some of which you see above.

Okay, it's time to cut out of here.  Time to ride off through the woods:  "The British are coming!  The British are coming!"
