Today we had a few different agendas at work. Daddy had to write a bit, which he did. And Madison had to clean up a bit, which she did. Mommy had to pack a bit, which she did. After these, we were off to the library for a unintentionally humorous presentation set up by the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Two representatives came from their base of operations in Roswell to do a presenation for the kids at the local library. They brought with them a red shoulder hawk, an opposum, and a black rat snake. And one lady presenter who apparently had no idea she'd be actually doing this presentation for children. She was simply not a kid person, and spent much of the hour overwhelmed. We knew we were in for it when she muttered, "I'm not getting much help from the parents either." I felt bad for her, but then I was remembering this was kind of her job, and maybe she'd walk away from this as a learning experience. I'm sure she walked away with a migraine, actually. She spent much of the hour looking like she had one.
Anyway, Madison did get to see the animals up close - she was on the front row once more. She learned that a hawk can see a mile away, looking for food. Currently, that is better vision than Daddy has. Unless you count that one vista on the way from Gainesville to Jefferson where you can see that McDonald's sign standing up over the treeline about a mile away. Yep, eyes like a hawk here.
Anyway, the library was at least a bit educational for Madison. And she learned a thing or two, and saw some unique animals. And, as a bonus, the more sadistic parents enjoyed torturing this poor employee for an hour. I doubt she'll ever return to our library. Or maybe even Forsyth County.
Afterwards, we of course went to Racetrac for our refill on Sodapalooza. You'll be happy to hear our report that we've officially refilled these cups at least four squillion times.
We went swimming after this. It's summer, right? Okay, it's technically still spring. But it felt like summer outside, so we went to the pool for the first time this summer. Madison is still attempting to swim here, which bothers us somewhat that it hasn't caught on yet. We'll certainly have to nail this down, signing her up for official classes. She just hasn't figured it out yet, and still she loves going to the pool.
The rest of the day was how we started: cleaning, packing, working. We did some grocery shopping, a stop by the pharmacy and Joanne's to pick up those little loom rubber bands for Madison. She was excited about the prospect of making more bracelets and necklaces out of those things.
Now it's time for bed though. We're still a bit tired from last week, as any sane person would be. It was all worth it though. A lot of parents are still calling and writing about the week. One even gave us some money for our upcoming trip - how awesome is that?
