Sunrises and Sausages

Another morning sunrise at Daytona.  You sort of get used to them.  We're all up before dawn, and the temperature is just right in the morning as we watch the sunrise over the horizon.

Mommy's sleeping somewhat better, as her mom is sleeping somewhat better herself.  It's been a long couple weeks here, but things are improving slightly.  This was our last sunrise in Daytona this week, although we'll be right back.  We enjoyed it together on the balcony, along with all the birds and wildlife out there.

It's still warm up here, although it's supposedly a lot cooler up north. We can't wait to experience fall again.  Right now though, it's a pleasant moment, the four of us overlooking the sea, the waves washing up on the shore, a relaxing and therapeutic sort of thing and really the best way to wake up.

The seagulls all take off at the same time each morning, ready to attack the day.  "Mine!  Mine!"  They've got a call that's not quite like the one you hear on "Finding Nemo," but it's nevertheless pretty distinctive, only heard at the ocean.  The reflection on the water this morning was brilliant and shimmering, and the shores largely empty of all the tourists that so crowded the place only a few weeks earlier.  No trucks, no cars.  Only residents walking along for their health and a pleasant view.

We left today, and Mommy left with me for the first time in a few weeks, the two of us on our way northward to go to see our daughter again.  It was a slightly longer drive than normal, but it was still okay because Mommy was able to sleep a good bit, and we knew that we'd sleep well that night in our own bed.

We did do one stop on the way up at a place called Carroll's Sausage and Country Store.  I was curious about a place that has so many billboards, whose primary reason for visiting was sausages.  But there were plenty of other items within to fulfill the "country store" part of things.  We picked up some candy for Nana, and a birch beer for Madison.  Yes, I ate a sausage too.

The rest of the trip was rather mundane.  We stopped for traffic in Henry County again, but that was primarily it.  Meanwhile, Madison has been doing just fine.

You can see her enjoying the last of the Mickey bars with Camille.  Camille has been so great, watching over Madison and staying at our house during this difficult time.  It wasn't as easy for her as well - she was dealing with oven issues, sink issues, cockroach issues, lightbulbs going out issues - it all seemed to have struck at once for us.  But we're taking this new slogan to heart:  "One day at a time."  We'll deal with it all, one day at a time.  Jesus told us to let tomorrow worry about itself, and we're fine with that.

We got home and it was a happy reunion for our family, finally complete again after so long.  We were unpacking and cleaning up a bit, and of course thanking Camille for so much.  We got home a little later than we anticipated due to traffic, but it wasn't terribly late.  Nevertheless, we were still tired.

We said our prayers tonight, and did some reading too.  We were all asleep rather quickly.
