Believe it or not, you can see Madison somewhere in the middle of this picture if you look very closely. She was at the first service this morning, the second weekend of us being open again. As usual, there was the social distancing, and though masks were suggested, you can see a lot of people are not wearing masks. Madison had her mask on, and even if she wasn't wearing one, we're glad to see her upstairs at church, sitting there dead center for one of the greatest ministries on the planet. It's so good to be back.
KidPak's cowboys were back on stage as well, which Madison got to see this morning along with all the other kids that came. In order to accommodate as many children as possible, we're having four stage services each morning, rotating the kids around so that more can be there for worship and then the skit/drama, then heading off to their rooms to watch KidPak online. You can see the skit here, part of our ongoing series with the Western characters. I may post a script here some time, but this morning's went really well, as did the one last weekend. It's good to be back!
"My sympathies friend, you have no manner of luck at all."
Now for the stupid part of the day: Ellijay and apples. I'm not sure if we can make this trip anymore. I'd like to, but the traffic along 52 was so bad that we literally could not get there. We drove over an hour to get there, this due to unexpected construction in Dawsonville. But the bottleneck into the county created an impasse, especially in that tight passage between Hillcrest and BJ Reece. These two sit beside the passageway like Scylla and Charybdis from Greek mythology, dooming all those who hope to get by. We needed to get to Red Apple Barn by 4pm, because that's when they closed. We left at about 1:30, and it is usually an hour to get there. WE NEVER GOT THERE. That's how bad your traffic is, Ellijay. We didn't spend any time or money in your county, we told other people not to go, and we'll really think hard before we try to go back again. That's how bad Ellijay was today.
Trying to salvage a ruined afternoon, we came back and continued our pirate-fest. Madison was wanting to watch the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie again, so we got some popcorn together and watched Jack Sparrow struggle to get his ship back. He didn't have to deal with traffic. He just had zombie pirates and krakens. Lucky.
