Visiting Middle School

Madison had her first visit to middle school today with a field trip.  All the fifth graders got to go to their next school, and yes, that means splitting some of them up.  Madison is saddened that she'll be saying goodbye to a few friends, but at the same time, she's impressed with her new school.  Her biggest description:  "It's clean!"  Yes, it's newer than the elementary school, and so the architecture is much more up to date.  But Chestatee Elementary is not an old school, nor does it give off that vibe at all.  Mommy and Daddy went to ancient schools, buildings that looked like they were built in the thirties, and probably were.

Anyway, she enjoyed the visit.  She also had her last Live to Give meeting after school today.   They were doing a few random tasks, helping teachers as the year begins to draw to a close.  She keeps busy -  she got home, practiced piano for a bit, and then was off to piano class.  She performed in front of everyone, as did all the others.  They're getting closer to having their songs mastered, but time is flying by.  Madison is practicing a lot.  The others had a bit of a head start, and she's racing against time to get "Tightrope" not only mastered, but memorized, without having a music sheet there.  It just takes constant repetition.  Over and over again.  Mommy and Daddy hear the song all the time now, and just about wake up with the melody stuck in our heads.  It could be worse.  I'm not going to say what it could be, or that song will be stuck in your head too.  And you don't want that.

Anyway, we all got together tonight after picking up Daddy from work.  He's gotten the second SX18 message done, so we're halfway there on the booklet for that.  It shouldn't be too bad, but time is fleeting.  We're in May now, and that's where things get serious!

Tonight, we didn't have that much time, but we watched a few episodes of "The Tick" anyway.  The one with the Ottoman Empire, and the following one with the Deadly Bulb:  these are hilarious.  I forgot just how funny these old cartoons were.  If only the live-action "Tick" show was a quarter as good.  But it's not, sadly.

So tonight, we read more unfortunate events, read our devotional, and said our prayers.  It was an eventful day, with Madison seeing her new school for the first time.  She toured the building and really liked it, lockers and all.  I think she'll enjoy it there, even though we're not quite ready for her to leave middle school yet.  I mean, look at this picture of her on her first day at Chestatee Elementary School:

It's pictures like this, I tell you.  It messes you up, because where did the time go?  She's growing up fast, and we'll treasure this moment right now, just like we treasured that moment six years ago.  We've been very blessed.
