Rusty the Lava Rooster

It is entirely possible that this has been the most-heard rooster cry in all America right now.  We've been watching this channel on the computer, as have many others.  It's a live feed, coming from this person's porch:

What are they looking at from this porch?  If we said this porch was on the Big Island of Hawaii, that might give you a clue:

The lava has been spewing out constantly, and it's been really fascinating to have on in the background.  You can hear the birds chirping, crickets in the evening, and explosions from time to time within this ginormous fissure that is erupting.  All this happens while we've all been watching this unending fountain of glowing orange launch upwards.  But the thing that you hear from time to time - the thing that gets all the chatroom folks talking - is a rooster.  The one above is named Rusty, I think.  And there are a lot of fans online all of the sudden, including us.  It's basically similar to the #teamtiki battle cry from September last year, where a bunch of people from all over the world watching the same simple video suddenly become fascinated with one quirky thing.

Tonight we were at the Texas Roadhouse again, a tradition when Nana and Ba-Ba visit.  We got out there early in the evening when things weren't as crowded, and had a great time together.  Interestingly, our server was a veteran who right off the bat told us he suffered from PTSD, and kept coming back to talk about his experiences in Afghanistan.  Hopefully he'll do alright, as he made frequent visits with us to talk, and you could imagine other patrons perhaps not as open to the idea of that.  We left a more generous tip, and spoke with him a little more.  It was certainly a great teachable moment for Madison about our veterans, and their service.  We were talking about things from meals overseas to dangerous trips and landmines.

We've had the ambience of Hawaii playing in the background, occasional rain and the occasional rooster cry.  Upstairs, we read to Madison as Captain Sham is causing trouble for the Baudelaire orphans, and of course the devotional and our prayers.

This is Daddy's view each night as he reads.  Mommy sits at the foot of the bed, and we spend this time together each night.  It's not to be missed!

School today was the last Monday of the school year, of Chestatee Elementary.  Madison had a pathways class, one where they learned some basic lessons in regards to first aid.  It's called "Nursing," the class is.  Although everyone is not going to become a nurse as they come out of this class.  But there will be further learning this week, including a bit about CPR, which is handy.

It was a good day today, suddenly quieter in a way with no ballet practice to rush off to.  It's the beginning of summer, somewhat.  The rooster is crowing, and summer is dawning.
