Piano Recital

We slept in for a little bit this morning, but when we got up, we were practicing and ready to go off to Madison's final recital with Mrs. Pam.  Nana and Ye-Ye were there with us to hear Madison play first out of all the children, and finally the moment arrived:  she played "Tightrope."  She did really well too, as did all of the kids.  They worked very hard on these songs, and you can see so much progress for each and every one of them throughout the years.  One kid played a rag, and another girl played yet another song from "The Greatest Showman."  All played wonderfully.  And as soon as it had begun... that was it.  Less than ten children are in this class, and each one just had one song to play.  These songs were complex and difficult, but these songs were played really well.  The parents were proud.  Daddy was super proud - Mommy too.  Madison did so well with her song, and I'm sure she was grateful it was all over with afterwards.

Later on, we posed for pictures and shared our thanks again for a wonderful year with Mrs. Pam.  We have a few classes left, and we'll see where we go from here.  But for now, it is a time of celebration of how far these kids have come, and how far Mrs. Pam has guided them.  The kids did all the work, of course.  But it is a collaboration, and a very fruitful one.  Madison plays well with others!

Afterwards, we said our goodbyes to Nana and Ye-Ye, who were quite impressed.  We took Madison to Anastasia's Tea Room, a place Madison has been wanting to visit for some time.  The hours this place has are always in conflict with school or Saturday activities, so it's been hard to arrange a visit.  But today we were right there, and it was open, so we dropped in for a visit.  It was very nice, and Madison enjoyed it quite a bit.  We had tea, of course, but today it was cold tea, a raspberry with rose petals, or something like that.  It was actually quite nice.  The meal was good as well, with delicious desserts:  Mommy and Daddy had flan, while Madison had this chocolate lava cake, perhaps in honor of the volcano in Hawaii.  Regardless, it was delicious, all of it.

We went home after this.  It was already quite a day today!  We went to the library, Daddy and Madison, and there Daddy did some early voting, and took Madison along to see the process.  Important fact:  kids can't touch the voting machines.  It's a sacred rule, so pay attention, lest the Pharisees swoop in upon you to arrest you.  Fortunately, Madison could watch.  But that's not why we were there, of course.  We were there to pick up "The Reptile Room," which is the next book in "A Series of Unfortunate Events."  We actually read from that tonight before bed, already starting it off.  The speed at which we're reading these books is a pretty quick pace, so it's almost advisable to put a hold on the next book already.  We'll be done with this one in less than a week.  So, with twelve books left, that means twelve weeks to go then...!
