Some time ago, Madison picked up a zombie head for a prize. This was the prize she picked out of the toy box at music class, a reward for doing her practices consistently. She could have picked anything in that toy box - there were girl toys, sports toys, action figures and little horses. There were musical prizes and stickers and small books. There were plenty of other things too, but Madison was enamored with this zombie head. It looks like one of those old "Madballs," a comically groaning sort of face with an exposed squishy brain.
Zombie Head has since become a part of the family. Right alongside the groundhog, the Mulan baby dolls, the sock monkey and the other stuffed animals, there sits Zombie Head. This is probably the most loved this toy has ever felt in its life. Surely it must have thought when first created, "Great, I'm a zombie head. Who is going to love a zombie head?" Enter Madison, who drags Zombie Head and a small entourage of toys downstairs each breakfast, tucks them in for the afternoon while she's away, and has them nearby for the afternoon activities.
Sure, she loves ballerinas and flowers and princesses with long flowing gowns. But give her a zombie head, and she'll be quite content as well.
Madison did some homework today - to quote Darth Vader, "All too easy." For some reason, the students were handed these homework sheets, and it didn't take long for Madison to complete the entire week's worth of homework. That, and she did her piano as well. She's been playing with both hands "The Tortoise," by Camille Saint-Saënes. Fortunately, as the title of the song implies, it is a slow tune. This is a comic variation of the "can-can," a song that was popular in France at the time the composer was writing. Madison was able to play this with both hands by the end of practice, although with some difficulty. This is actually playing it better than Daddy currently can. We're learning at a tortoise's pace, but this one is a bigger step than the typical melody with supporting chords.
As a result of her finishing all of the week's practices, Madison did get another Disney Infinity disc: this time Mickey's car. The goal was to go to Wal-Mart, where they show Mickey Mouse himself currently in stock (they still show him in stock there now). But, as you can tell with this sort of set-up, the mouse was not in stock at all. Explanations for this are: "It's either in someone's shopping cart right now, or shoplifted." Based on the fact that the item is still listed as in stock on their website, apparently it has been shoplifted? The lesson here is that Wal-Mart is not the sort of place you go to find a specific item like this. It's better for going to get socks, cheese puffs, car air refreshers, and Duck Dynasty products. If you're into that sort of thing.
We got home after our mini-adventure - we did have other things to get at Wal-Mart, and we did save a lot with the arsenal of coupons Mommy brought along. The weather is nice outside, although the rain is coming in tomorrow. I think it's rain, anyway. Who knows, this time of year!
We continued our Lego Marvel journey at home, and were surprised by the size of this game. Seriously, we've been playing a while and we're only at 13% completion currently. In our defense, we are taking our time with this game. Happily, we now can play as the Rhino. And Mystique. These are big wins for Daddy and Madison.
We had dinner, but it was time for bed shortly after this. Daddy read the book of Jonah to Madison, or at least the kids' version. As he read, Madison was listening intently with her little family around her: stuffed animals in the bed, dolls, and of course on the dresser with a very interested face ...was Zombie Head.
