White as Snow

We filmed something with a tiny little camera during all that snow this week.  The idea was that we'd be behind this weekend for filming and new videos, so we did something small outside - Josh and Chris filmed something as well, but here's the video that Mommy filmed of Daddy and Madison.

Also in this video above are a few viral videos with an Olympic theme that got the kids laughing.  Actually, everyone loved the Olaf snowman we made, and the snowballs being thrown.  It was a great morning at church, where we mixed a bit of Snow White with the David and Saul relationship in the Old Testament.  It all boils down to jealousy, with a touch of respecting those God has put in authority.  Here's a few snaps from the morning, in fact:

Everyone had a really great time this morning - it was good to be back at church!  You had a sense that everyone was relaxed and ready to be back in gear again after a week of being grounded.

As for the rest of the day, there was a bit of grocery shopping involved, and a bit of piano as always.  We're still reading through the New Testament, but there's a new book we've been reading lately:  X-Men, issue #1.  Daddy has a copy of the first X-men comic book ever - it's not the actual book, but a copy of it.  Just wanted to make that clear.  Anyway, this was something Madison wanted Daddy to read to her.  SO, that's what we've been doing at night the last two nights - and probably tomorrow too.

This is a great "Daddy moment."  Madison is really into Jean Grey and Cyclops currently, as the two are "a couple," at least early on in their history.  Daddy stopped collecting in the 90's, so what happens next probably doesn't count (sort of like "Superman 3" or "X-Men: Last Stand").  When we've been playing the Marvel Lego game, inevitably, Daddy will have to be Cyclops at one point, so that he and Jean Grey can have a picnic together in Central Park.  This afternoon, she discovered that Daredevil and Elektra are an item, so that sort of added a new dimension to things - those two will be having romantic adventures fighting super villains soon as well.

As corny as you might think the original comic may be, it's still captivating to Madison, who laughed out loud on a few occasions, and was really engaged with the characters.  It was a fun read for us.  Credit Stan the man for yet another marvel-ous creation.  He's been a highlight of the Lego game lately, with lots of fun cameos.  We understand he'll eventually be a playable character, which sounds hilarious.

As we've got one more day off tomorrow, it was a later night tonight before bedtime.  Of course, we spent that time together on the bed, with a bowl of popcorn, and the Olympics.  The Bode Miller story was just incredible, and the ice dancing was the favorite moment for the girls.  It was a great day overall, and as we start watching a little more before bed, here's today's Olympic-themed devotional entry:

“There is one body. But it has many parts. Even though it has many parts, they make up one body. It is the same with Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12 NIrV

What a win for the US Ice Hockey Team in Sochi yesterday! It was a thriller, an incredibly close game with an amazing finish!

When you watched that game, you saw teamwork at its best. You see, everyone on an ice hockey team can’t be the goalie. Then you’d never score, right? And everyone can’t be a forward trying to score a goal – then you wouldn’t have any defense on your team!

When you see the puck passed from one teammate to the next, you see the intricate teamwork taking place. It’s choreographed almost as precisely as an Olympic figure skating championship. It’s a whole lot rougher though, and there’s only one thought on everyone’s mind: score a goal.

In the Bible, Paul explained that the church is just the same way. He compared the church to a body – not everyone could be the eyes, because then the church couldn’t hear anything. And not everyone can be the hands – then the church wouldn’t be able to go anywhere: you need feet for that.

God designed us to do our individual tasks. We were made to do our own thing, and do it with excellence as a part of the team. And when we work together, it’s a beautiful thing: we can face off against the toughest challenges, score big time, and shake the world!
