This afternoon we went back to see the movie "Frozen," which has sort of become a little more than just a movie for many folks. I mean, here we are a few months after the flick came out in November. That would be Thanksgiving. And the movie is projected to make millions this weekend.
Madison has been in training for this version though: it was the "Sing-A-Long" edition, where as you can see above, words were put up on the screen along with a bouncing snowflake. How appropriate, considering the week we had. There was no problem getting out the door whatsoever though, and Madison did not want to miss this big event. Like I said, she's been training. In the back seat of the car every day just about, we've been singing "Let it go," and other songs from the movie. As a result, Daddy knows pretty much all the words too. Recently, they even released a preview of what the movie would be like: the entire scene from "Let it go," complete with the words on the screen. We watched that on our big television in the great room, singing loud for all to hear. Well, by "all," I mean the three of us.
So we met at the theater with Matthew and his dad, and shared a great big tub of popcorn as we sang-a-long. The theater wasn't as full, but this is Gainesville, which is not the "sing-a-long" capital of any state. Still, you could hear folks doing their best when the songs came on, and the atmosphere was fun. And, of course, the movie is excellent. Madison enjoyed it, right through the scene after the credits.
She's had a good day. This morning, she woke up to discover her Chinese New Year surprise, this nice display you see below celebrating "The Year of the Horse."
She got her Mulan doll - this was a surprise. Daddy was so pleased to get this for free from Disney Movie Rewards only a few weeks ago. The horse is Angus from "Brave," which we borrowed from Madison's collection. We also had Mushu from last year, alongside some oranges and those weird dolls we got when we were in China a few years ago. And yes, there's the red envelope too: inside were eight quarters, the number eight of course being good luck in China. Also inside was another "Year of the Horse" themed item: a Disney Infinity power disc that let's you use Mulan's horse, Khan. Oh yeah, and you can see the little sticker book in the front. Mommy ordered that months ago. Madison was using that tonight before bed, dressing up little Mei Mei with sticker outfits.
We went in to work for a bit today, preparing for the day tomorrow: it'll be a long one. Fortunately, everyone seems to be feeling better too. We did quite a bit of piano, and continued reading in our Bible as well, reading into the book of Daniel some. And there were video games as well - Madison did enough piano to justify this. We continued the Lego Marvel game this time, which is turning out to be a lot bigger than I initially thought. The three games we got for Christmas could last us until her birthday, and that's not an exaggeration!
So that was our day. Tomorrow is a big day - Groundhog Day. They're getting ready at Gobbler's Knob as we speak, and it will be interesting to hear what both groundhogs have to say. There's actually a slight chance of snow in our forecast this coming weekend. And after this week, I can say with all honesty the groundhog probably has a better idea about forecasting in general!
