Groundhog Avenger

Josh made up this image to advertise for a recent episode of Friday Night Live, where our friend Lance compares the groundhog to a big-time superhero.  Oh yes, the groundhog is kind of a big deal!

Before even church today, the groundhogs were up and doing their heroic duty:  predicting the weather.  Today is Groundhog Day.  Again.  And that means it's time to listen to those prognosticators of prognosticators, the groundhogs that live in Punxsutawney and Stone Mountain.  Of course, Phil is the big leagues up there in Pennsylvania.  Before we even made it out the door, he had predicted six more weeks of winter for the beleaguered North.  Down here in Georgia, General Beauregard says that spring is on its way.  He wasn't making that up either - the morning was pretty foggy out there, so he couldn't possibly have seen his shadow.  And suddenly, like a beacon of hope, we expect warmer weather - quite content with the bit of snow we had.  We've had our snow days, and are ready to move on - despite the fact that it is still only February 2nd on the calendar.  Georgia has seen some epic snow storms as late as March, so you never know as far as that goes.  But for now, we're holding the groundhog to his word.  Indeed, today's weather already started to show a warming trend:  the temperature shot up to 63 degrees, which was downright wonderful to be in.

Unfortunately, Daddy was in a bunch of meetings today:  lots going on at the church all day.  We all started out together with a couple of great services dedicated to Esther.  Madison was just learning about Queen Esther the other night as Daddy was reading that to her.  But this morning, the entire service was dedicated to the good queen, and standing up for what is right despite all the pressure to do otherwise.

Madison and Mommy went home, but Daddy was there for some meetings about the future, which is not that far away.  We're having a new campus open soon at Gwinnett, and also new Espanol services starting in two months, which Daddy will be lending a hand with.  Lots going on with our ever-expanding church, which is great news.

Speaking of which, Madison watched Friday Night Live again, which of course had our groundhog in it.  Lance was trying to get the scoop on his secrets, but the groundhog was only going to predict a s'winter, which was pretty noncommittal if you ask me!

Daddy got home late though, which was a bummer as far as spending family time together goes.  We had just enough time to watch a movie together, "Ella Enchanted."  This was actually a great one to watch again - really enjoyed the concept, as did Madison who was watching it for the first time.

Yeah, there was a Super Bowl game going on at the same time too.  It may be well documented here that the only sports we really dig around here are baseball, ice hockey and anything to do with the Olympics, which start in just a few weeks.  It sounds like we didn't miss much with the Super Bowl game anyway, as it was more of a blowout than we've had in a while - however, the new Captain America commercial Daddy had to take a peek at afterwards.  It's online and looks pretty sweet.

Anyway, Madison went to bed on time tonight, after hearing some more Bible.  She'll finish her piano tomorrow, and be all caught up there.  School will be something again tomorrow - she was last there on Tuesday, so it'll take a while to get back into the swing of things.  That was quite a week we had there, but it's time to move on.  And I think that's exactly what the groundhog was saying this morning.
