Big Top

Today's series got started with our Ringmaster above, a great set, and a fun time at the Big Top!  It's a circus-themed series, and everyone had a great time.  This will be a wonderful month from start to finish - I say that because the very last day of the month, we're planning on actually going to the circus together as a family.  There are in fact two circuses in town, but we went with Ringling Brothers, simply because that's the one Daddy and Mommy went to growing up:  we both remember going to Madison Square Garden to see the circus, although we don't remember much in the way of details.  I do remember the smallest man, and of course the elephants.  I also remember the "Sphere of Death," where those motorcyclists would spiral inside a sphere, narrowly missing each other and bringing gasps and amazement to the crowds.

There's something about the circus.  Although Daddy wasn't as enthused about this theme to begin with, a lot of things can change in a year.  One was the movie "Madagascar 3," and the other being our return trips to the circus of late.  Cirque du Soleil is one thing:  it's not technically the circus that you see at Ringling Brothers.  And while I do prefer the performances of Cirque, there is a traditional atmosphere at Ringling Brothers that is hard to find elsewhere.  It's something we grew up with, and something we're delighted to let Madison see each year.

Needless to say, she had a great time this morning.  I think it's great that she actually gets up on her own each Sunday morning, anxious not to miss KidPak Jr.

The rest of the day was the rest of the day.  As in, we "rested" the rest of the day, which was our rest of the day.  Anyway, we napped, watched some television, and waited for ...

Ba-Ba and Nana!  There was a doctor's appointment in the morning, so they are up for a week, which is fine by everyone.  Today was a long day of driving for them, but we spent some time talking before bedtime, doing a bit of catching up since their last visit in November.  We had a photo album of the year 2012 for Madison for them, which was fun going through.  And I think there was a football game or something going on too...

Anyway, it was a good day for them on the road, which was great.  We went to bed a little earlier, wanting to be well-rested for the week ahead.  G'night!
