X-Ray

Madison pulled a muscle in her sleep last night, or at least that was the diagnosis, and it was so bad she couldn't walk on one of her legs this morning.  We thought of "sleeping on it wrong" and "growing pains," but when the pain persisted, we knew something was up.  We called her teacher, who told us nothing really out of the ordinary happened yesterday - the only possible explanation was a recess and PE class that had a lot of physical exercise.  She went to bed without any problem whatsoever, but when waking up this morning, there was a different story.

So we called in sick for her - we did that when talking to her teacher.  We also set up an appointment to the doctor's office.

We took her there, and then to another place to get X-rays, which I strangely wish I could post pictures of here - I mean, we've got every other kind of picture here, right?  She did not like giving blood at all, of course.  Who really does though?  She was unhappy about that, but the visit to the X-ray imaging center was more pleasant, fortunately.  In fact, she kind of enjoyed it.  She was on the table there, and Daddy stayed with her (wearing one of those goofy bomb squad vests).  But as anyone who has had that procedure knows, it doesn't take long and doesn't hurt a bit.  It was just that after the "giving blood" thing, I felt like I should stay nearby.

Anyway, Daddy has been carrying her everywhere.  He carried her up to see her X-rays, which is one of those words that gives the letter "x" a point of existing.  Although "existing" has an "x" in it too.  But if it weren't for "X-Ray" and "xylophone," we wouldn't have much to begin with the letter "x" at all.  So we're thankful for the x-ray.

Anyway, Madison saw her bones and was pretty fascinated by it.  She wasn't scared of the new faces there - in other words, she wasn't xenophobic.  And for her trouble, she got two stickers from the technicians there (they were both quite  xenodochial).   The stickers had Tinkerbell on them, a delightful xenium, which made Madison less of a xanthippe than she was at the doctor's office giving blood.  Therefore, the xeroradiography process went pretty well. So it was a win-win for all.

Now why was the muscle pulled?  We don't know at the moment.  But it did get better and better as the day went on.  Kids heal quickly, don't they?

Meanwhile, Jingle is having fun.  December is such a wonderful time for a child's imagination, and we're going into overdrive this month!  Here's Jingle, taking a bath in an Elf Hot Tub:

Madison found Jingle as Daddy was carrying her around in search of the little elf.  We scoured the whole main floor until we found him taking a bath in hot chocolate in the kitchen.  He certainly is a mischievous little bugger!

Today was obviously a down day for Madison, in regards to activity.  We did finish homework when we got home - this week's letter was "R."  She wrote a few sentences she made up that featured words that start with "R."  One of them:  "Rudolph is a red-nosed reindeer."  Ah, the Christmas spirit is all over.  Tonight, we watched a movie that we've been waiting to see since the start of our "All Aboard" series.  We watched "The Polar Express," and Madison was paying close attention throughout.  She was really into this movie, but who can blame her?  It's one of Daddy's favorites this time of year.  We've still got tons of Christmas movies to watch though - we've been plugging them in since early November, and laughing all the way.

Hopefully tomorrow we'll have a better report on Madison's leg.  We feel like we will, as she was walking much better tonight as she went to bed.  It was there that we said our prayers, told her we loved her very much, and read her a Christmas book:  "A Pirate Night Before Christmas."

X Marks the spot!
