Tower of Babel

Here it is, our impressive monument that reaches towards the heavens, scraping the sky and piercing the atmosphere above!  Madison starting building a tower, and soon Daddy had to help out a bit.  The two architects went to work, building up and up - our only limitation were the amount of bricks we had.  If we could have had more, this achievement would have been even taller and mightier!  As it stands now, this construction is actually taller than Madison is.  Look carefully and you can see three civilians on the observation deck at the top.  What a view they must have!

This was actually a good time to share the Tower of Babel story with Madison, although by building the thing ourselves we were in danger of suddenly speaking different languages.  Madison could have suddenly started speaking French again!

Today was a day off, but we sure it was filled with activity.  Piano practice?  Check.  Trip to the library?  Check.  Doctor's visit for the pancreas?  Check!  The doc said I probably have more fluid around my pancreas, and I'm due for another CT Scan soon, but at least things are looking up there.  Another thing we did was build a tower, of course.  And Madison's favorite activity might have been the slide.  Yes, we set up Ariel's water slide in the back yard and had a good time there - Madison and Daddy slid down that thing over and over again, absolutely soaked!  It was a lot of fun for Madison, who went down the slide every imaginable way, including a trip on Daddy's back.  The bonus is the pool of water at the bottom that you slide into - we were both pretty drenched.  But that's the way you deal with extreme heat down here.  Well, let me back up a moment and say this:  we did it all at about 6:00 pm or so, that way we weren't too hot.  The temperature lately has been at an unhealthy level, and really the best thing to do is stay indoors mostly.

Which we did.  Daddy read a lot of books to Madison from the library, and because of the piano practice, Madison earned the right to play some video games.  Her choice:  Marvel Ultimate Alliance.  She is really into superheroes lately!  As a bonus, while she was drinking her milk before bedtime, Daddy popped in a few scenes from "Spider-Man 2," where Spidey battles Doctor Octopus at the bank and on the train.  Completely awesome movie, and Madison thought so too - although we just showed her a few scenes and not the entire thing.  She's not completely ready for that sort of thing yet.  But she is loving the superheroes!

I need to get her to try that old Atari 2600 Spider-Man game - do you remember the one where all he did was climb up a really, really, really tall building while battling villains?  Our lego building was probably taller though.  Just saying.
