Trailhead

Here's the family beginning an epic journey - pretty much the entire Georgia stretch of the Appalachian Trail.  They're going to cover that this week on foot, so Daddy drove them all up to Dicks Creek, which was way up in Rabun County.  The next time I see them will be in Fannin County at Springer Mountain, where the Appalachian Trail ends - or starts, depending on your point of view.

They've got all their food, shelter and anything else on their backs, and quickly they were off and walking into the woods, just after this nice group shot of everyone posed at the starting point.  It's a rock that says "Appalachian Trail," and also "Dicks Creek."

This morning's drive up was a long one, and a long one back too.  But it was pleasant enough without any incident.  Daddy went straight to work though, and missed out on much of the day with Madison and Mommy.  In fact, the only time seeing Madison was on Skype this evening - she was still asleep this morning when I snuck out the door.

And here I am working late again.  Suppose today counts as a "write off," although we had an exciting morning at the trailhead.
