Hello, 2012!

It was a church morning, and the start of a new series for the kids - so we worked into the night last night (our work spanned over two years!). Everything turned out very well, as Alice descended into Wonderland once more - towing the children along for a new adventure. Mommy prepared the costumes, and Daddy got other things together, and the end result was all very nice. Here is a photo of Madison posing with Alice, shortly before their visit to Wonderland. You can see the office Christmas tree still up in the background - we'll put that one up some time later this week, but not on New Year's Day. By the way, Madison is quick to point out that this is a "pretend" Alice, but she still loves her just the same. She ran right up to her and gave her a hug, just as if she was the real Alice, as Madison loves the story of Wonderland quite a bit. She also loves our new set, as does everyone else. Check it out below, as Alice met the Tweedles:

After church, it was time for some rest. All of us were up late last night, between the visit at the Hitchcock's and the preparations for the day. We did have plans for Ye-Ye, Nana, and everyone else to come over for our annual celebration of the new year together, but other plans came up for them - so we spent it alone here, and decided to use that time to catch up on some rest.

Mommy made us a nice dinner, and we did a little cleaning up - but honestly, the biggest part of the day was recreation: Madison and Daddy played "Disney Universe" some more, and Mommy did further research with ancestry. After Madison went to bed, Daddy did further "research" of his own, by reading an entire book: "The Sign of the Four." It was a page-turner, one I was reading late into the night for research for February's series about Sherlock Holmes and mysteries in general.

It was a full day, and although it was a "work day" for us all (minus the usual traditions of New Year's Day), it still had quite a bit of fun and activity. Hello, 2012: the game's afoot!
