It's been a while since I've had a Madison's Book Club entry. This is not to say we haven't been reading. Actually, we've been doing overtime on the workbooks lately - where Madison has been learning to match up, or count, or identify letters. These workbooks are magnificent, and Madison's learning ability is frankly stunning. She's like a sponge, soaking in just about all she sees. As far as storytime goes, of course Daddy is still telling stories at night. Every night, there's a new story. It's like a state law, as mandatory as brushing her teeth and saying prayers. It's all part of that rhythm at night. And still, we're reading books as well. Today, Madison wanted Daddy to read her the
"Pirate's Night Before Christmas" again. Yes, it's nowhere near Christmas. Not entirely sure why she chose that one, other than the subtle current of piracy that seems to be sailing into our house of late. You see, in May, KidPak is going to do a pirates series called "Arrr!" again, and Daddy has been hard at work on his new pirate-themed devotional. For "research," and to get into the pirate feel a bit, all this month we'll be watching pirate movies - most we've seen before. Tonight's feature was
"Treasure Planet," which Madison enjoyed a whole
bunch. Arrr!
Back to the Book Club. Here it is, the Goldfish Fun Book. This is a brilliant idea by Pepperidge Farm, the company that brought us those tasty little goldfish crackers. Each page has little places for you to put your goldfish cracker, and as you turn each page, the number of crackers to put down increases by one. This book teaches counting, and by the time you've put all your fish crackers in place, you've had a pretty large snack! Madison has enjoyed doing this as of late - we've actually got a few different Goldfish Fun Books, so snack time is never the same.
Of course, when you start to think about it, it's a fairly traumatic experience for the fish...
