Sparring Green

Wearing green today!  No danger of being pinched - at least I don't think so - but it is St. Patrick's Day, so that's just something you do, right?  Maddie wore green today, and green tonight at her taekwondo practice too - she has the green Edge t-shirt.  Others were wearing green tonight too - it's just a green sort of day.  It's a tradition at the martial arts studio to have some Irish rock playing as the students were practicing, and that was cool hearing the bagpipes as kids were doing their sparring and routines.  It was also nice tonight because everyone got to talk about and show off their medals from the weekend.  Master Edge expressed how proud he was of everyone there, and that was a nice moment.  Here's Maddie sparring for a bit with a wee bit of green on:

Of course, Mom and I were wearing green too.  I had my Buc-ee's St. Patrick's Day shirt on, and Mom was looking nice in her green too.  We've cycled through all our usual themed music too, and saw the big two St. Patrick's Day movies in our house, "Luck of the Irish" and "Darby O'Gill and the Little People."  Tonight's special was "The Leprechaun's Christmas Gold," an old Rank and Bass animation we watch from time to time.  It features leprechauns, gold, rainbows, and a wailing banshee that no one seems to have any pity on.  I mean, there's got to be some context as to why she's so reviled, right?  All she wants is some of that massive collection of gold to be given to her so she can survive, as in not die when the sun rises.  But those vicious greedy leprechauns show no mercy, and so she turns to sea water or evaporates or something while everyone's celebrating.  I think something must have been edited out of the story, because I'm left wondering why we didn't do something nice for her like we did with the Winter Warlock.  Anyway, let's move on, shall we!

We got the last book in the Kingdom Keepers in the mail today, and once again I asked for the author to sign it, but this time not to Maddie, but to ME.  Yeah, it's my turn, and I didn't ask for the author to sign it to me, but he actually wrote more.  Isn't that awesome?  He wrote, "To David - a real keeper!  and a great dad!"

I did spend a lot of time at the car dealership today, pretty much waiting for some scheduled maintenance to be done.  I got a lot of things done there too, including most of my work for this weekend.  The pain in my abdomen has been increasing though.  I'm dropping by the doctor tomorrow and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

We closed up the night with reading, and with prayers too.  Sleep came easy tonight though - we're still catching up from the adventurous weekend.
