Big Brother is Watching You

Maddie starts "Big Brother" week today, and it's a great exercise with the senior students about totalitarian governments and so forth.  She enters the classroom, as do all students, with a certain phrase about being ready to learn.  She exits the room thanking the teacher for the lesson.  No using cell phones at all on campus.  These are just some of the mandatory things that students can report each other for.  Maddie was not reported today, but it looks like a very interesting week for her.  I remember all of us in middle school watching a movie called "The Wave," which had a similar concept to it.  Makes me want to go back and find that movie, sort of.  Anyway, Maddie's enjoying it already, mostly laughing about all the reporting and the sneakiness.  Which of course is ironic, given where she was born.

So it was a busy day for Mom and I, who were there at the church a long time prepping for costuming of all sorts this week.  Many, many disciples and characters came by to get costuming tried on.  We paired them up with the appropriate garb, and got it all loaded up in the car, ready to take down to Atlanta tomorrow.  It was a long day for Mom, and the beginning of a long week.  We'll keep an eye on her.

Maddie did have taekwondo tonight, and she enjoyed that - I didn't get to see much of it, but there was a tiny bit of preparation tonight for the competitions upcoming.  I was back at the church, helping Mom get things all set up.  We got home tonight, and we were ready for a restful evening.  For one thing, we're starting our filming in Atlanta tomorrow and that should be quite a bit to do.

We have Purim coming up, so tonight we plugged in the movie "One Night with the King" again and watched that.  I've started to check out the book of Esther with reading, so that will be the theme of things this week.  Of note, on Purim there is a lunar eclipse that evening.  I'm not sure if I'll be awake for that though, as the maximum coverage is about 2am.  I've seen a pretty decent lunar eclipse recently, and given all the events of this week, we may just need to have some rest.  I'm good with that.

We did make time to read tonight, moving forward with the "Maskerade" book we've been reading lately.  It's been fun, particularly the parts where DEATH shows up.  He's had a few moments already, and I suspect he's not done yet.

Anyway, good day today.  We got to sleep at a decent hour after saying our prayers, and we were all off to sleep right after that.
