Christmas at the Plaza in the Multiverse

Maddie was putting some glaze on her ceramic pumpkins, and she let me know that she'll be bringing her works home with her at the end of the semester, so it could be this December, or possibly mid-January.  Regardless, we'll get to see a lot of her creations pretty soon, and that's pretty exciting.  Obviously, she's just learning all this for the first time, but it's been enjoyable for her.  She mentioned being interested in going to a future pottery class up there at Sautee, and that would be fun for the three of us to do.  She's doing well in school of course, still fighting in pre-calculus, and trudging along in American History, currently going over the battles of the Civil War, all of them.  We may benefit from going to a nearby battlefield, perhaps.  I've actually never been to Chickamauga or even Kennesaw Mountain.  Might be fun to go there, and then even LIFE Center to see the Christmas lights... okay, I'm getting ahead of myself.

Anyway, it was a good day, mostly.  Mom is under the weather, and it's pretty yucky.  She slept most of the day.  She's coughing too.  That sort of thing.  One or two of the kids came into play practice last week, coughing all over the place.  There were events with all sorts of people indoors, from the revival to the exhibition with King Tut.  Who knows where it came from, but it's annoying.  Pastor Lance is a little under the weather too.  I was a bit on the runny nose side of things for a time, as was Maddie, but that was last week.

Maddie and I were at Edge tonight, and I finished up a book there, a Discworld book - and that means I get to start on a big, big book tomorrow - the latest Bible edition I got from revival two weeks ago.  That'll be tomorrow.  I was watching Maddie as she was doing practice for leadership and for her black belt class too.  They're learning more of their form, and there's sparring too.  Maddie is also still learning the Team Edge routine, or at least drilling with that over and over again.  They have an extra practice coming up this week, doing the routine over and over again to perfect it.  It's great to see the energy.

We got home and watched a new Hallmark Christmas movie together, this one called "Christmas at the Plaza."  Basically, the selling point was that it featured Jemma Simmons from "Agents of "S.H.I.E.L.D."  Of course, it's not really Jemma Simmons, but in fact the actress portraying her in what turned out to be a pretty decent Christmas flick.  Obviously, you know what you're getting into with these, and this didn't disappoint in that regard.  In fact, there weren't any legit eye rolling moments where you go... unless you count that part where the guy who played Senator Kelly from the first "X-Men" movie just so happens to meet his long lost love of his life.

Here you can see Senator Kelly and Jemma Simmons together, discussing plans to protect the Infinity Stones.

Which makes me wonder... is his movie in fact a Marvel multi-verse event, where Jemma Simmons is in fact a new employee tasked with creating a Christmas exhibit at the Plaza, while Senator Kelly is in this universe a revered Plaza bellhop.  Things seem quiet now, and in fact there's a pretty happy ending to this movie... but what's not shown is part two where Thanos shows up looking for a Christmas jewel that he accidentally thinks is an Infinity gem.  Oddly enough, we were looking it up and Agent Coulson is also in a few Christmas Hallmark movies, as is his nemesis, Grant Ward.  We might find ourselves in a Christmas Hallmark multiverse before it's all said and done here.  As for tonight's movie though, it was actually pretty fun.

So tonight we started "Wintersmith," the next book in the Tiffany Aching series.  This is the book that starts out at the end, so to speak, and it was a different way to begin a book.  But the unique storytelling is fun, and I think this book should be pretty good.  I read it some time ago - Mom gave it to me for Christmas one year.  I looked up when this book was published, and it was actually the year Maddie was born.  We read a chapter tonight and got started on that.  And then... it was off to sleep.  We said our prayers, and then took the plush entourage back to Maddie's room to get tucked in, and yeah, we were asleep pretty quick.  Mom is sleeping in the living room though - she's been coughing and didn't want to keep everyone up.  We prayed for Mom, and she took some medication tonight too.  We're hoping for a better day tomorrow.
